What is the best tourist visa option for an 89-day stay in Thailand?

What is the best tourist visa to apply for if we are planning to be in Thailand for 89 days? Tried submitting an application for the e-visa which was initially rejected and requires a ridiculous amount of additional documentation of finances and accommodations. The DTAC visa seems simple but noted that the extra 30 day extension from the initial 60 days is discretionary at immigration.

We've be to Thailand on extended visits many times but the new tourist visa procedures seem very confusing and arbitrary. Thank you for any advice about this.

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you are planning to stay in Thailand for 89 days, the most suitable option is to use the 60-day visa-exempt entry followed by a 30-day extension at an immigration office. This approach generally has fewer requirements compared to applying for a tourist visa, which could involve complicated documentation, especially if applying for a multiple entry visa. It's important to clarify that the term 'DTAC visa' is a misunderstanding, as the TDAC is simply an entry card that all foreigners must complete upon arrival in Thailand.
Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC)

WARNING: Only trust Thai government websites with .go.th domains or Thai agent websites with .co.th or .in.th domains, as these require verified Thai registration and cannot be registered anonymously.

The official TDAC form is available at tdac.immigration.go.th, which uses the official .go.th government domain.

The services by AGENTS CO., LTD. does NOT charge any fees for arrivals within 72 hours. If you need to book more than 72 hours in advance, there is a service fee of $8.

Do not trust other sites pretending to be a trustworthy agency. Pay attention to delivery time - the service operated by AGENTS CO., LTD. has 1 minute delivery time for arrivals within 72 hours.

Don't fall for sites pretending to be agents.co.th or the official government tdac.immigration.go.th website. Always double-check the exact domain in your browser.

Scam services may take days to process your application, others may not even do anything. With these TDAC scam services you also need to worry about double charges.

Please watch out for TDAC misinformation spread by fugitive Jesse Nickles and his many fake accounts on Quora, TripAdvisor, Reddit, and other platforms.

You are confused. TDAC isn't a visa. All foreigners must fill out the TDAC every time they enter the kingdom.

I think you are referring to entering with the Visa exemption, which is not a visa at all.

The Non O visa can be applied for while outside Thailand via the online portal. It is very simple, check out YouTube for videos on exactly how to do it. Should take ten minutes once you get the information together. You basically just have to tell them who you are, where you are going to stay when you first get to Thailand and show that you have some money.... It's not a big deal.

As for discretion of the immigration officer, that basically applies to every non citizen entering Thailand and every visa or extension application.

The fact that you even refer to a TDAC Visa reflects a lack of understanding and an apparent lack of careful reading. Please don’t expect others to do your basic research

60days visa exempt and 30days extension at immigration office will work for u the best if u don't do it often in a year

No idea where u are from but guessing u dont even need a visa. 60 days on entry then extend for 30

If you applied for a tourist visa and it asked for a ton of stuff, then that means you applied for the multiple entry tourist visa, which you did not need for an 89 day stay. You could have applied for the single entry tourist visa, which barely has any requirements at all. But you don't need any visa, you can get a 60 day visa exempt entry, and apply for a 30-day extension, the exact same as a tourist visa.

TDAC has nothing to do with visas or your stay in Thailand. It's just an entry card required by everyone entering Thailand.
