I'm a DTV holder and I'm looking to rent an apartment in Bkk. I know that it's almost impossible to open a bank account with that visa and I don't want to bring tons of cash with me. Regarding the rent, is it possible to transfer my rent directly to the landlord bank account using western union? You can do it online now. Has anyone tried this way?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A DTV holder in Bangkok is exploring options for paying rent without a Thai bank account, expressing concerns about carrying cash. Community responses suggest using online money transfer services like Wise or Revolut instead of Western Union, as they offer low fees and ease of use for transferring money directly to a landlord's Thai bank account. Some users also mention paying rent in person or using local alternatives like True Wallet.
What I did when renting a condo in Pattaya, was either pay the rent at the agent's place of business, or have the condo owner's bank account and pay into his bank account in cash. Both were very nearby, so no big deal.
I was successful about 5 years ago sending funds from the U.S. to a friend's bank account via Wise as well.
direct to his Thai account.. You can also use true wallet and get money transfered there. If you can transfere from foreign cc or bank I don't know.. Or just do through someone holding a Thai bank account
Try Wise instead, i did this with my landlord when i was out of the country and my stupid Bangkok bank acct was frozen. Was easy, low cost and very fast
