I have to open a bank account to get my married visa. Can anyone tell me what bank is the best and what do you need?
Thanks
Answer summary
To open a bank account necessary for obtaining a married visa (Non-O visa) in Thailand, the best options recommended are Kasikorn Bank and SCB, while avoiding Bangkok Bank due to negative experiences from users. To successfully open a bank account, you need a long-term visa (at least a Non-Immigrant O, O/A, LTR, or O/X type visa), a residence certificate from immigration, a registered Thai mobile number, and possibly your spouse for assistance. It is highlighted that opening a bank account on a tourist visa is nearly impossible, and in cases where banks impose additional requirements, it's advisable to attempt another branch or consult an agent.

After trying three, I found k-bank to be the easiest. Stop in... The branch will tell you what they need.
Travel to Vientiane Laos and use your normal bank statements. Trust me. Once you get the non-O, have tour wife take you to Kasikorn and bring all of your documents.
I already have an non o visa. I was just simply asking what do people think the best bank is to open an account. As for what I need.... phone contract, house book, driving.... get the picture.
The minimum requirement for opening a bank account is always a long-term visa, meaning at least a Non-Immigrant O, O/A, LTR, or O/X type visa, or an Elite Privilege visa.
Some bank employees will claim you need a work permit, but this is a fabrication and simply not true.
You cannot open a bank account on a tourist visa or visa-exempt entry visa (you can, yet only possible at a very high cost through a handful of agents).
To open a Thai bank account all by yourself, you must first be registered at a residence using a TM30 form.
Then you obtain a "certificate of residence" from Immigration, in which Immigration requests the bank to open an account for you (you must tell Immigration what the COR will be intended for).
You will also need a Thai mobile phone number. The SIM card must be registered in your name and passport number. Show the COR at the phone shop (but don't hand it over!) and ask for confirmation of the registration (or likewise a note about it on the receipt).
If bank employees become uncooperative and keep making up new requirements to get rid of you, go to another bank (I recommend Kasikorn and SCB).
If it still doesn't work after several attempts, use an agent, this should cost something like 5000 Baht.
Are you asking about the getting the VISA, or getting the EXTENSION? The visa is the 90 day non-O visa, and the extension is the 1-year that you apply for from immigration. An extension is not a visa, it's an extension.
You can not get the visa inside of Thailand unless you already have a Thai bank account.
If you already have the visa and you're actually asking about the extension, then most people have been going to Kasikorn. Avoid Bangkok Bank. You're going to need a residence certificate from immigration.
