What is the process and requirements for obtaining a DTV Visa in Vientiane for training Muay Thai?
DTV / Vientiane / Soft Power (Muay Thai) 4 Business Days.
Here’s my experience in Vientiane.
Arrived 10/05, applied directly online and submitted all the required documents, nothing more, nothing less.
- Paid the visa fee at the embassy on 11/05
- Pending approval on 12/05
Spent two days learning Muay Lao
- Approved today, 14/05.
No interview 🙂
4 business days. Can’t wait to get back to Thailand and train Muay Thai.

OPImportant information: I never received the email. I had to download the DTV from the thai e-visa website. Check status often, friends.

PRINT OUT THE EMAIL THAT HAS YOUR DTV VISA.
That's what you should do... print it out.
You may have to show PROOF of your DTV Visa to airline staff on check-in for your flight ✈️ to Thailand...even to the connecting airline staff. Or to the land border crossing entry Thai Immigration Officer.
Upon arrival into Thailand, show the DTV visa to the Thai Immigration Officer and look at the STAMP placed in your passport to be sure you are STAMPED in for 180 days.

- 3 month bank statement w/ 500k +
- lao entry stamp
- muay thai school letter
- passport copy
- photo (selfie with good lighting)
- hotel and flights booking to prove presence in Laos

Most people take 6 months, some even used to take 3 months. Apparently rules are changing and they are becoming stricter. I don’t work for the embassy so I can’t really tell you more than that, though.James ********
EmpatheticSeal9639 correct AND now it's wise to do 9 or 12 months. Enjoy your next 5 years of the DTV visa in Thailand 🤗

EmpatheticSeal9639 9 months or 12 months are highly recommended now to avoid getting the SETV single entry tourist visa or METV multiple entry tourist visa issued by the Thai Embassy or Consulate instead of the DTV visa.
