What happens when you quit your job and your visa still runs for another 6 months? Does that get canceled, or just the work permit?

Thanks ๐ŸŽˆ

TLDR : Answer Summary
When you quit your job in Thailand, you must cancel your work permit (WP). This cancellation also leads to the invalidation of your extension of stay based on employment. You have until 11:59 PM on the day of cancellation to leave the country.

And right now are you on a Non-B VISA from a thai consulate in another country OR are you on an extension of stay that you got from the immigration office based on employment?

So if you are on a year-long, multi-entry VISA that you bounce out and back in every 90 days on, even if you quit or lose your job and your work permit is cancelled you can still KEEP the visa and keep using it until it runs out..

BUT

IF you are on a yearly extension of stay from the immigration office based on employment and you lose your job, you do what

mentioned and go cancel your work permit AND then go cancel your extension of stay AND you either leave the country that day OR you get a 7 day extension denied stamp that gives you a week to get out of the country for 1900baht.
