What factors contribute to Vietnam's popularity as a visa destination compared to other countries, and how is the DTV visa application process from Hong Kong?

Hi! I just wanted to ask why is Vietnam such a popular location? What makes it number one compared to other countries? I’m from Hong Kong and was told that it’ll be a pain to process the DTV visa from Hong Kong and to stay in Vietnam for a day or two and get it sorted out at the embassy in Hanoi. Is there a specific reason for this? Do they not care how long the 500,000 THB has been held in your bank account for?

Another question I have is how long do you have to have the 500,000 thb in your account for? I’ve herd some say 6 months before you can apply and others say nothing so a bit confused about that

I am from Hong Kong, and now in HCM waiting for my visa to approve! I didn’t do it in Hong Kong because it takes longer time as I heard from this group.

Anonymous participant 122 Did they ask for accommodation or income even though you're doing soft power?

Put 500,000 THB to my Thai bank only for 1 week. Got DTV in 4 working days as freelancer. All they asked is some additional documents and proof of income

Non residents are not able to apply via Hong Kong, so it really isn’t an option for most people. Laos requires you to apply online, but then you have to pay in person. They are also more likely to call you in for an interview. Cambodia, tends to be easy when it comes to paperwork, but takes 11 buisness days to process. Malaysia seems to request a lot of random documents. From previous posts, Vietnam, Jakarta, Philippines and Taiwan (not seeing many people mention Taiwan now) were quickest with little issues. That being said, it seems like Vietnam is now requesting payslips even for people applying under soft power

I am a permanent resident of Hong Kong would you say that would be the easiest option then? And do you have any info on if money needs to be held within your account?

What do you mean by pain to apply in Hong Kong ? Hong Kong have a high rejection rate for DTV?

I'm also in Hong Kong and will apply going via soft power route. Have not started application as still reading around the forums first.
