What experiences did you have while applying for a DTV and how did you obtain a METV instead?

Firstly, big thanks to everyone of you that took some time to share their experiences here, it has helped many of us during the process of applying for a DTV.

On my end, I was meant to apply from Vientiane but the cut off time caught me in Indonesia so I submitted everything (even a 2 year soft power course) on the 28th.

Got the METV.

I know is at the embassy’s discretion to grant DTV’s and also I was very much aware that Jakarta was well known for issuing METV.

No issues with funds, soft power paid, on the leasing I’ve showed a 1 month paid condo explaining I was going to commit for a longer term one whilst i was there as I wanted to be sure of a location before signing a lease and then perhaps the 5 year plan was not strong enough for them (we will never know).

Eitherway I have to go back home next year for a 2 months around September so I will take another shot.
