TLDR : Answer Summary
A user seeking a 6-month multiple entry visa for Thailand is asked by the embassy to confirm their travel itinerary by providing a round trip ticket for a second entry into Thailand. This is necessary to demonstrate that they will indeed leave and re-enter the country as required for a multiple entry visa. Several commenters clarify that without this proof, the applicant may only be granted a single entry visa and potentially miss out on a higher price refund.
I used thai embassy New York and got a type O visa multiple entry and they only wanted flight numbers for arrival and time staying in Thailand, which was 168 days. I guess that's only because tourist visa?
The keyword is in the name of the visa. MULTIPLE ENTRY.
You have to show you will enter Thailand, leave Thailand within 60 days, and enter Thailand again. This proves you need multiple entries. If you do not provide them with another ticket to Thailand, they will issue you a single entry tourist visa and will keep the price difference.
