Hi everyone, 

I am self-employed and have an LLC from the US (California). Planning to apply for DTV next year w husband and 2 kids. I saw the following below and have a couple of questions: 

1.If I am self-employed, what is my employment certificate? (I have my LLC/biz info but that seems to be a separate requirement?)

2. How do I get this authenticated? (We are not in the US now and were hoping to apply before going back next summer; can prolong our application plans if it’s necessary though). 

“Foreign employment contract or employment certificate authenticated by the embassy of the country where the company is located.”

I’m in California and was in a similar situation. I just provided my incorporation documents from the state. There is also a state website where you can get a download pdf copy showing that the llc is active . I sent that in. For the last part you basically need a company letter stating you’re allowed to work remotely etc . There are a few people showing examples on YouTube.

Claire Zimmer frankly it might be easier to obtain the DTV visa from the Thai Embassy or Consulate in the USA 🇺🇸. Read the posts about getting the DTV visa in USA.

Apply in your homecountry, where they know how documents are formated in that country, for less extra documentation, authentication or misunderstanding of documents.

Remember dependant visa at least double the visa processing time, since it is a 2 step process.

They are out of their home country until next summer. Very large numbers of DTVERS successfully apply outside their country, without difficulty.The system is made for such applicants.

It is worth considering to go home for a smoother process, to avoid all the hussle of getting the documentation in order, being rejeted, reapply, dependant rejected.

Make it simple, aand get a better successrate.
