I am cancelling my work permit and non-B extension and transferring to a Non-O retirement extension. I think that is the correct terminology.
I have had 800,000 in a Thai bank savings account for many years
Does anyone happen to have a list of documents required at Changwattana to do this? Any recent experiences?
Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is looking for guidance on cancelling their work permit and Non-B extension to transfer to a Non-O retirement extension, having maintained 800,000 THB in a Thai bank account for several years. Responses indicate that instead of cancelling the Non-B extension, it may be more beneficial to change the reason for the extension to retirement, and they recommend checking with the immigration office for the specific document requirements. Additionally, there are complications regarding proving the source of the funds in the bank account.

You can do it pretty easily. The only problem you might have is proving that your bt800,000 came from an overseas source directly deposited into your Thai bank account. That is a requirement.
You shouldn't be cancelling your Non-B extension. What you should do is change the reason for your extension to retirement (aged over 50) so no need to obtain a Non-O visa first. You should go to your immigration office and ask them for the requirements for this but generally you will need 800k in a Thai bank for 2 months prior to applying for the extension
