Now I know this question has been asked to death but I need to know the quickest and simplest way to get a non-O immigrant retirement visa as I am sending a shipment of belongings to Thailand from Australia and need the retirement visa approved to receive the Cube container from Leam Chabang. I was hoping to come in visa exempt, apply for 90 day non-O immigrant visa, then open bank account and transfer the 800,000 baht. If my goods arrive before my visa I may be in trouble. I need to have Non-Immigrant visa valid for one year to provide for customs.

Someone has mentioned applying for a non-O immigrant visa here in Australia through the Thai Embassy. Is that my best option to come into Thailand with?

TLDR : Answer Summary
To obtain a Non-O immigrant retirement visa for your move to Thailand, it’s recommended to apply for a 90-day single entry Non-O visa at the Thai consulate in Australia before departing. Once in Thailand, you can then open a bank account to transfer the required 800,000 baht. Before your 90-day visa expires, you should apply for a one-year extension. This process will help manage your shipment's customs requirements.

Get a 90 day single entry Non-O visa from the thai consulate in Australia based on being over 50 (retirement) before you come here.

Then you get here, get stamped in for 90 days, open the bank account, (which will be easier to do on the Non-O visa) then get the money transferred in, and when you have 30 days or less left on the 90 day stamp you got when you entered on the Non-O visa apply for the year extension.

As far as your shipping stuff, that's nothing to do with a VISA question so you're on your own with that one, Worst case have them hold the shipment a month or so until you get the year extension then ship it to you.

@Peter *******
the reason I say don't get a year Non-O back there is a year-long multi-entry Non-O only stamps you in for 90 days, when that runs out you go to the border, stamp out of thailand, in and out of another country and back in to get a NEW 90 day stamp and you do that for the whole year.

You need to be on a long term stay <- and unless I'm mistaken a year Non-O where you get 90 day stamps isn't that
