Hi I have a question regarding Education Visa. I intend to apply for a Thai language course and I understand that after the school applies from the Ministry of Education and sends an approval letter, I'll have to take this letter and fly to Vientiane (because land borders are closed) to apply at the Thai Embassy there. Assuming the visa application goes well, upon returning by flight into Bangkok, what documents do I need to show the airport immigration upon entering?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the necessary documents required for airport immigration upon returning to Bangkok after applying for a Thai Education Visa for a language course in Vientiane. However, several comments indicate that obtaining such a visa currently may not be feasible due to restrictions related to COVID-19 and the operation of Lao consulates.

Extensions of stay of non-O ED visa studying Thai in a private school, are delivered, at least in Chiang Mai.

No straight to the immigration counter. No problem whatsoever. The school prepared the required documents. ๐Ÿ˜Š

and the operative wording is "the school prepared the documents" SOME private schools are still closed and not supplying extension documentation for their students, BUT most are.. (y)

and extension of stay is NOT what the O/P is wanting :( They are applying for a NEW Non-ED visa.

I know. I just wanted to be precise because Benjamin said, I quote : "As of right now, you can not get a visa or extension of stay based on being a student at a Thai language school." Which is wrong for the extension. I think it's better not to create any confusion in people mind.

yeah, that WAS what was being done pre-covid-19-shit storm.

As Benjamin said, you aren't gonna get IN to Lao, get an ED visa from the thai consulate in Vientiane AND then get back into thailand for the purpose of studying at a private language school.

People who are out of the country but enrolled in degree programs in universities here are not being allowed it SO your plan is just not gonna work at this time.

You definitely need to re-think it and talk to your school.

Okay, that's what I was realizing and wanted confirmed. Appreciate the advice, thank you

Hi Tod, this was basically my plan as well after researching the ED because it looked like I didn't have the leave the country. So basically what youre saying is these rules don't apply to those with the amnesty? And now we just have to wait until the 31st? I'm just trying to balance the fine line of just waiting for what is going to happen but also trying to be proactive as possible in any way that I can.

, the country is CLOSED to people on ED visas from private schools entering, <- meaning even if you could get out, find a country you could get IN to, go to the thai consulate there and get an ED visa you couldn't get back IN to thailand.

If you're on amnesty now you wait it out, there is no way to get an in country Non-Imm type visa straight from amnesty

As of right now, you can not get a visa or extension of stay based on being a student at a Thai language school. Also, the consulates in Lao are not issuing visas, and I doubt you can even get permission from the Lao government to enter for the purpose of getting a visa.
