Hello everyone!

Does anyone know if a Thai registered car allowed to drive in Laos -Vietnam-Cambodia- Myanmar? I'm Chinese and have an own car with ownership in Thailand, I would have road trip from Thailand to Laos-Vietnam-Cambodia-Myanmar, I have blue book but don't have any work permit, may I cross borders? And how, please? I mean what full documents should I prepare? Who or which office can I enquire?

Thanks a lot! 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking information about driving a Thai registered car across borders to Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Myanmar, including necessary documents and permits. While some commenters provide insights, it appears that international travel with a Thai registered vehicle can be complex, especially due to current border restrictions and the need for specific permits. Key requirements may include a vehicle passport (Carnet), international driver's license, insurance, and guidance for Myanmar. It's advised to check with embassies and the respective countries' regulations for the most current information.

You need specific insurance. I think you can buy when you cross the border though.

you used to be able but as mentioned previously borders closed at present. You also need a car ‘passport’ from the local car registration authority and a T sticker. Remember they drive on the wrong side of the road outside Thailand !!!

Contact the embassy of each country. You'll need transit carnets for each country, international driver's license, and insurance. What they do not want you to do is sell the car in their country, so they are pretty strict about entry and exit. Myanmar will be difficult, as you'll need a government guide with you driving at all times, and where you can drive is very restricted, but for the right fees you can get permits. Myanmar Travel and Tours is the government agency that can arrange all that. The whole trip can be done, but it is a very lengthy process to get all the permits. I have friends that have done it on motorcycles, but not cars. It should be all the same though. Right now crossing the borders is the hard part.

its called a Carnet. Not all countries require them, but it is a bond issued by an insurance company, so that if you would sell the car in the other country, the government will get paid for the import tax that is due which could be 1 to 2 times the cost of the

Yes but you will have to do different paper work and pay I guess.

You will have to ask at the border.

But driving in the district you entered Cambodia is no problem

I believe your question is irrelevant, since the land borders are closed.
