Anyone been to Laos border run recently? Chiang Saen or Chiang Khong more easier and efficient? Apart from passport, must have documents?

My friend is French and thinking driving there, also maybe explore Laos for a day.

Many thanks πŸ™

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post inquires about the efficiency of Chiang Saen versus Chiang Khong for a Laos border run, especially for a French friend considering driving there. It also seeks information on necessary documents beyond just a passport. Community responses emphasize the importance of having a car passport and insurance when driving in Laos, with a suggestion to avoid driving in Laos due to potential difficulties.
