TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is seeking advice on obtaining an O-A visa from the UK but is confused about the required proof of insurance. Other community members clarify that insurance is mandatory for the O-A visa and suggest alternative routes such as the Non O visa. They discuss the necessity of insurance, the implications of holding funds in a Thai bank for extensions, and the steps involved in the visa application process.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.
For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
Explore recent discussions by using the Non-O Retirement Visa tag in the search box at the top of the page.
Also, the 800k has to be in a Thai bank for the Extension for both the Non O and the Non O-A so I really don’t understand the point of an earlier comment.

Also remember that if you intend to stay in Thailand long term then the Non O-A requires you to buy insurance from an approved local insurance company for each Extension. You do not require insurance for each Extension if you start with a Non O.
If you want to discuss further then feel free to message me. It’s very difficult discussing in this group for a reason I can’t really go into.

Try mrprakan.com brokers. If you choose the Tune insurance that can be cancelled and refunded if you dont get the visa, however it isn't necessarily the cheapest option, if that's what you're looking for. However, if all your other paperwork is in order then there's no reason why you won't be granted it

Except for very particular circumstances, I would strongly recommend you get the Non O for Retirement from London and not the Non O-A.
Initially 90 days but then you can extend for another 12 months in Thailand, and do that each year.
unfortunately that’s the requirement. Get insurance. Get visa. The OA has some quite stringent requirements. Many people like it as it means no financial requirement in Thailand for up to two years, but it does have the requirement for insurance.
on the application its asking for Thai insurance and international and will not let me move on till i download the files if I complete one will it override the other
sorry. I’m not up on the specifics of the insurance requirements. Maybe here can help.

Go a different visa route. Come as tourist get 30 day visa exempt entry. Apply for 90 day O Visa in country. Extend that by 12 months in country. Over 50 and have finance.

You're not getting the OA visa without the required insurance. End of story. The visa is valid the day it's issued and one of the requirements is having the required insurance.
