Iโ€™m a Uk national. I work in China and My mum lives with me in China on a dependent visa. I will move to Thailand in the summer for a new job and she will move with me. Does anyone know the documents I need to prepare to get her a dependent visa in Thailand? Or what the visa requirements are?

Thanks in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks information on the necessary documents for obtaining a dependent visa for their mother as they move to Thailand for work. Responses highlight the importance of checking with the employer regarding documentation for both the user's work visa (Non-B) and the dependent visa (Non-O) for their mother. Additionally, it is advised to verify whether the visa applications should be done in-country or at a Thai consulate in China.

You also need to talk to your employer if they will be able to get the Non-B visa for yourself inside the country at the immigration office OR if you would apply for it at a thai consulate in another country online before you come here

IF they're going to have you apply online you might as well get it from the thai consulate in China that serves the area where you live/work BEFORE you come to thailand

she can come in "free stamp" if she's from one of the 90 + countries that get 60 day visa exempt entry.

At most consulates you have to already HAVE your year extension based on employment for her to even apply for a "piggy back" Non-O visa based on family of a foreigner working here

SO bring her in free stamp, get the 30 day exetnsion on it, hopefully you'll come in on a Non-B and have the extension before that 90 days for your mom runs out

then send her to a thai consulate to apply for the 90 day Non-O with your documentation

It's totally up to the company you work for to supply not only the documentation for you to get the Non-B visa for employment but to also give you the documentation that they allow you to bring dependent family members to 'piggy back' on your visa/extension.

There is no obligation for a company to do that and believe it or not some companies do not offer dependent visa support <- meaning people employed by them cannot get visas for immediate family members.

I'd say talk to your future employer to make sure they are okay with providing the documentation for your mother to get the Non-O visa based on immediate family member of a foreigner legally working here.

Iโ€™ve spoken to my employer. They are definitely ok with it.

I just couldnโ€™t find any consistent information online as to whether parents are classed as immediate family members.

Also what paperwork I need to provide from my side.

So I was reaching out on the hopes that someone in the group has had experience with bringing a parent to live with them in Thailand ๐Ÿ˜Š

Thank you for the message ๐Ÿ˜Š

I did this 4 years ago. All what needed from my sides was my birth certificate where it was stated that she is my mother. The other documents the company prepared.

no problem at all. They only told me that my momโ€™s age should be over 50 but she was at this age that time already.

Parents ARE classed as immediate family and on the eVisa online system you'd select this choice for the visa your mother needs
