Hello everyone!

I am currently here on a STV and am going to be doing my first extension soon. I am wondering what documents I need for the extension? Are there forms to fill out prior to going to immigration?

TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
To extend your Special Tourist Visa (STV) in Thailand, you need to complete the TM7 form and possibly the STM2 form, which can be obtained at the immigration office. Additionally, you'll need a recent passport photo, proof of insurance specifically for STV holders, details of your accommodation, and copies of your passport's data page, entry stamp, and the departure card (TM6).

Here is a list of companies approved for STV insurance

You’d need to fill out a TM7 form and probably a STM2 one too. They’ll have them at the office so I wouldn’t panic about filling them out beforehand. You’ll need a passport photo and because it’s and STV you’ll need to show insurance and accommodation details too. They’ll want copies of your passport data page, entry stamp and the TM6 (departure card) in your passport.

I've heard previously it has to be insurance from a Thai company. Is that true? Also I'm assuming I should make my own copies before going there?

yes you need Thai insurance. Really not sure why embassies are approving initial visas when it gives a list of the approved vendors on most embassies websites

sorry I’m not sure about the stipulation of what insurance is required. Perhaps someone else can confirm if that’s the case. You can make the copies yourself beforehand, but most offices will have copy places on site or nearby, usually something like 2baht or so a page.

For the 90 day extension of stay based on STV, you will submit the following documents found in the attached e-mail. You will go to Changwattana Immigration Office for that service.

For the TM 30, in Bangkok, you can self file at the Muang Thong Thani immigration office. You will need the following documents:

Self filing a TM. 30 requires the following documents:

1. The passport and a copy of:

a. The data “picture” page

b. The most recent visa (if applicable).

c. All entry stamps or extension of stays (if applicable) since arrival

d. The departure card (“TM 6”) that should be stapled in the passport.

2. The original and one copy of the lease.

3. A completed TM. 30 form filled out as follows:

a. The foreigner’s name is completed on the top form

b. The foreigner’s current address is written in both address spaces.

c. On the second page, the table, complete as normal.

The TM30 paperwork can be found in the office.

Easiest way to get to both immigration offices is BTS to Wat Phra Sri Mahathat station, then get a cab from the roundabout under the station.

I never recieved an asq certificate, where would I get one?

@Tyler ***
You would get it from the test-n-go hotel or ASQ hotel. If they refused to issue it to you, ask the Tourism Authority of Thailand at 1672 (source:

@Benjamin *****
not sure, I have to find out from my landlord. It's his responsibility to file, correct?

@Tyler ***
It's his responsibility to file, but you'll be fined if he doesn't file.

The question I'm asking you though is:

1. Do you live in Bangkok PROPER Or do you live in another province?
