DTV in Prague

Applied as Freelancer, applied on 18th October received 1st November.

Documents required:

- Confirmation of stay in Thailand (5 months Bangkok + 4 months Phuket, both via Airbnb)

- Receipt of payment for accommodation (from Airbnb)

- Flight ticket to Bangkok

- Flight ticket exit before 180 days

- Bank statements (6 months) with 500.000baht from Revolut (saving account)

- Bank statements (6 months) with payments from clients from Revolut (Eur account, different from saving)

- Local Bank statements (6 months) for proof of tax payments

- Trading licence in Czech + google translation in English

- Portfolio

- CV

- Contracts with clients signed by both parties

- Czech residence card/proof of residence (also gave Czech driving licence)

- Interview even if it was an E-visa just to talk and explain basically everything I submitted, my intention in Thailand, why Thailand and so on

Staff was quite nice during the interview, they sure ask for a lot of documents compared to other places, but if you have all your cards in order you will get it, if you try to cut corners because you don't have all the requirements, well, you will have issues.

Highly recommend cancelling your Airbnb and renting a furnished apartment on marketplace. Way cheaper. Waaaay

A Czech guy arrived at the gym I train at with a DTV based on soft power Muay Thai and the owner of the gym told me the embassy in Prague even called her to ask about his training schedule and to check if he really had booked training. They also interviewed him. But he got the DTV 😏

2 years ago a Czech friend applied for the METV in Prague and that was also a huge, long, cumbersome process.

Seems the interview is standard here then, well, I'm glad I got it after the long back and forth with documentation, but at least they are very fast replying, they asked me for more documentation in the morning, provided, then in the afternoon asked for more documentation, provided, then the next morning already asking for more, so well, they are fast.

Submitted 20% of that in Munich. Received visa, no questions no interview

I can't believe they made you spend probably $9,000 on non-refundable Airbnb bookings when you could very easily be rejected and lose all that money. Thailand has some truly sick obsession with making people gamble large sums to be here. I faced similar coming as a tourist during covid with having to prepay my quarantine hotel and them asking for a booking after... thankfully not demanding any certain length, I was only risking about $1200

Well, we would have gone anyway and probably apply somewhere else if not approved here, but the reservations are still refundable, for long term Airbnb only charge 1 month at booking and the rest monthly near the check-in, basically like paying a rent, it's not all pay immediately, I don't remember the date when the money are not refundable but near the check-in date

I used to work as a property manager years ago and Airbnb had a variety of cancellation policies the owner could use, it's really up to them which one apply, I think in the recent years policy may differ based on the location, but I haven't check in a while since I'm not working in that field anymore, but yeah, there's always a risk of losing the reservation.

I think here are quite demanding because they don't have many people applying so they tend to check more deeply every aspect.

I think they really need to unify the requirement for all embassy to follow the same procedure, it's a total mess now, it's too much dependent on the interpretation of each embassy on the rules and strictness.

I believe they forced you to risk all your money on the first stay perhaps? but only that. That's because they won't let you (at least NY embassy) apply months in advance, rather you are allowed to apply only a month before your travels. So this will usually be the point where Airbnb doesn't allow a refund. But I think it also varies by property. Anyway glad things worked out

they do in person interviews for DTV visa???

@Cullen *********
They do, espacially when they dont believe that you are around (in that country) like they expect you to be.
Henrik *****
All Embassies have the right to call you in for a interview, so best to stay close to the Embassy you will be applying at, until the visa has been processed.

the Thai Embassy or Consulate can request an interview.
