TLDR : Answer Summary
To update your residence for your 90-day report when moving to your girlfriend's parents' house, the property owner (your girlfriend's father or mother) needs to file a TM30 form at the immigration office or through the online TM30 system. This should be done within 24 hours of your move. You will need to accompany them with your passport and their identification documents. Paying rent is not necessary for this process; the primary requirement is that the property owner reports your stay. Ensure that they fill out the correct sections of the form regarding the property owner and your details.

There are two parts to the form, one is your details and the other is the property owner. Don’t mistake one for the other as I did some years ago.

Whoever owns the home needs to submit a TM30 for you. They will need to do it at the immigration office, or register for an online TM30 account. The online system will be much easier and convenient going forward, so you can get an updated TM30 any time you need it.

Jeff Hoffmeister To complete a TM30. which is a report to immigration that an alien (foreigner) is residing at their property. The building owner needs to show up with their blue house book, ID card, and your passport. Immigration will give them a form to complete (TM30). That's it!

Paying them rent has nothing to do with it. It's just a form that reports to immigration where a foreigner is staying. All property owners in Thailand are required to file a TM30 within 24 hours of a foreigner arriving there. All hotels do it, landlords are supposed to do it, and normally you won't even know about it. But now you need to know about it so you can ensure it gets done as you will need the TM30 in order to do future immigration things.

the only thing it has to do with you is that you're staying at the address. It's the owner of the property that has the responsibility of reporting you are there
