Hello, friends! Could you please share your experiences regarding entry into Thailand?

Hello, friends! Could you please share your experiences regarding entry into Thailand?

We are two Russian citizens—and we are planning to arrive at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport on November 20th.

One of us has spent 132 days in Thailand in 2026, and the other has spent 154 days. During these stays, both of us made one "border run" to Malaysia by land. We both left Thailand in June 2026.

Now we both have 60-day e-visas. Could you tell us how likely it is that we might face issues or deportation? What is the current situation like at Suvarnabhumi Airport?

We have accommodation booked, return tickets to our home country for 59 days later, and proof of sufficient funds. Have really tourist purposes, but we are really afraid to go in light of the terrible news about people being denied entry without any explanation and then deported...

🙏🙏🙏
Answer summary
Two Russian citizens with previous extensive stays in Thailand are seeking advice on potential entry issues upon their arrival at Suvarnabhumi Airport with 60-day e-visas. They express concerns about being questioned or denied entry due to prior long stays and seek reassurance given the negative reports of expats being deported. Community members respond with varied opinions, mostly cautioning about the likelihood of being scrutinized by immigration officials due to their travel history.

You will be entering using a tourist visa which means you'll have to present yourselves to a manned immigration booth and not the e-gates as they're for visa exempt. Be as e in mind that Embassies issue visas through/on behalf of the MFA whereas Immigration are entirely separate body (Police).

As others have mentioned you may be lucky but your previously lengthy stays in Thailand anyway would suggest you're at worst potentially living there at best not fitting the profile of a tourist. Good luck but prepared for the possibility of being returned to your previous destination (at your expense).

No muss no fuss. Just compete your DVAT card online ahead of time. They got rid of that garbage requiring you to state where your first location is. Good on them.

Michael Sofranko the TDAC has no bearing on whether they will be allowed into Thailand - it's just an arrival card and doesn't guarantee entry

Judy Blyth try getting in without one though

Michael Sofranko immigration will just send you to complete it at the designated stations, so only you will be inconvenienced

Frida Kale: Why were you in Thailand for so long earlier this year, on what kind of visa? And what are you planning to do on the upcoming trip? Important things to know if you expect Facebook commenters to pretend to be Thai immigration officers.

154 + 60 = 214 days out of the 323 days in the year up until your arrival date.

That's living in Thailand not tourism. And you don't even mention prior to 2026 as immigration tends to look back over the past 12 to 18 months, so what about 2025?

You might get lucky if immigration is busy and the officials are a bit stressed but I'd be very surprised. Prepare to be questioned and to plead your case. If you get denied entry you won't be deported as such but will be returned to where you came from.

You don't need proof of funds, you need to carry cash upon entry the equivalent of 20,000 baht.

Wannikea Wanblee false information, I never enter with that amount of Thai Baht ฿. Never been asked for proof of cash.

Chiang Mai

Phuket

Utapao

Never asked or questioned about funds.

If you returned to your passport country you should be okay, but if you haven't then it is a good possibility you might be denied entry.

Kool Breez They’ve spent too long in Thailand this year for that to matter. 154 days is already at the limit.

Ralph Tyson there is no 150 or 180 day limit but anyone near those numbers are taking a big risk arriving without a long stay visa

Ralph Tyson Embassies and Immigration are two different government bodies and often give misinformation about the other's responsibilities

Graham Seal The Thai embassy said that there a maximum of 90 days in 6 months. I don’t think they know what they are talking about!

Ralph Tyson that is not set in stone. Entry is at the discretion of the immigration agent. You know that.

Chances are you may be denied entry since you have already spent so much time in Thailand. But of course that will be up to the Immigration Officer that you stand before.

You might get lucky but I believe you’ll definitely be pulled aside and questioned

It's very likely you're going to be questioned about what are you doing in Thailand for so long
