Can I cancel my DTV and switch to a tourist visa if my visa won't be ready before my trip?
I've just applied for DTV last week. I'm I'm planning on travelling on the 17th of march. They've been back in contact with me and asked for further information. However, they have stated that my visa will not ready for within the time. I'll leave. They advise me to reschedule my flights. I don't want to do this so can I cancel my DTV and go on a tourist visa? Will it impact me at customs immigration? And also how do you cancel a dtv?

Depending where your coming from your flight may get cancelled anyway

You can cancel but you won’t get your money back. A better option is to travel on a tourist visa. When a determination is made on your DTV, you can do a visa run; exit and come back using your DTV.

Why would you do that instead of reschedule ?? A tourist visa wont last you for long, why waste time and money like that ?
