Hey everyone,

Me and my husband would love to travel next year to Thailand, but my husband will need a visa. I am German citizen but my husband is Iranian. He has only the iranian passport and still lives in Iran. He will move to Germany in a few months. Regarding his Iranian passport and his future residence in Germany I wanted to ask what our opportunities are. Would it be possible to get a visa in Iran for Thailand but to travel there from Germany? For Iranians in Germany it is quite tough to apply for a visa but not for Iranians in Iran🫠

Thanks in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
The questioner is inquiring about visa options for her Iranian husband to travel to Thailand next year, noting that he currently holds an Iranian passport and lives in Iran but will soon move to Germany. The advice shared clarifies that once a visa is obtained, it does not matter from where one travels, and emphasizes the importance of applying in person in Iran for a tourist visa, which has a 90-day validity. Additionally, it is mentioned that if he obtains long-term residency in Germany, he might qualify to apply for a Thai tourist visa through the eVisa system.

IF your husband will have (permanent / long term) residency in Germany, he will be able to apply for a Thailand TR tourist visa through the eVisa system with the Thai consulates in Germany. For this to be applicable he would need to be "granted a residence visa [so any national visa, not a Schengen tourist visa] to stay [in Germany] for more than six months". Check the following websites section: "Am I eligible to apply online?"

Once you have a visa, it doesn't matter where you travel from.

But a tourist visa is only valid for 90 days, and he'd have to be in person to apply for the visa in Iran. It sounds like he won't be there the 90 days before your trip.

hey Brandon, many thanks for your reply. This was exactly my question. So far it is not clear when he will come to Germany. So he just needs the visa in his passports no matter where it is from and from where is flight was right?
