What are the rules for a Nigerian passport hold getting a Non-O visa? He already has a Non-O that expires the 29th of July. His teacher agency is telling him that he has to go HOME to do it. Can he just exit Thailand and get a tourist visa, return and do a new Non-O?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Nigerian passport holder with an expiring Non-O visa must return to Nigeria to renew their visa, as they cannot utilize Thai consulates in neighboring countries due to restrictions. The possibility of obtaining a tourist visa elsewhere is limited, as there are prohibitions for applicants from Nigeria in certain consulates. If the individual initially acquired a Non-O visa without the requisite documentation, they may face additional complications.

He can't use the consulates in Lao, Malaysia OR Myanmar.
Nigeria is on the list at all those places.
It looks like he goes back to his country.
Just curious, how did he get a Non-O visa to begin with? Those are issued for being over 50 (retirement), marriage to a thai, raising children here & volunteering.
IF he can find a thai consulate nearby that will sell him a tourist visa. He can't go to either thai consulate in Lao because Nigeria is on the list of prohibited countries
