Greetings,

I just got a new American Passport (renewal) in the mail from the Embassy in BKK. I am currently on NON-O 50+ (Retirement) Visa which I got at the Jomtien Office (expires this September 22 2024). I plan to travel to the Jomtien Office this week to have the stamp transferred to my New Passport. New Passport has contains New number.

I have been successfully doing my 90 Day Report online. My next 90 Day Report is due Feb 16th.

Question1:

should I file a TM30 online with the NEW Passport number?

Question2: Do I get a fresh 90 Day Report clock when I go to transfer my Visa Stamp to my New Passport Book?

Question3: Do I have to file my next 90 Day Report in person at the Office with my New Passport?

I should get an email notification to do my 90 Day Report via email to submit my 90 Day Report under my Old Passport Feb 1 (15 days before due date of Feb 16).

I was thinking of doing my 90 Day Report online of Feb 1st using the old Passport number. Then trekking to Jomtien Office Feb 2nd to transfer my stamp to get a fresh clock on the 90 Day Reporting. Will this work? Please share your thoughts and advice. Thank you in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The poster inquires about procedural steps after receiving a new passport while holding a NON-O 50+ Retirement Visa in Thailand, including whether to file a TM30 with the new passport number, if they will receive a fresh clock on their 90 Day Report upon transferring their visa stamp, and whether the next report needs to be filed in person with the new passport. Commenters suggest filing a TM30 with the new passport, indicate that a new passport does not reset the 90 Day Report clock, and advise on possible complications with online reporting due to the change in passport number.

I would suggest filing a new tm30 using your new passport tomorrow, delay getting the stamps moved until the 2nd, and once there in your new passport go and personally do the 90 day report while you are there and within the 14 day window.

Your advice makes sense. File TM30 then wait a few days to allow the database to update itself. Then go in person to transfer the stamp and process 90 Day report on site.......but I have been doing the 90 Day report online for the past two years and it has worked nicely. I would like to continue to do online method.

it maybe fine and you'll be able to do it online, but within the system your succesive 90 day reports are linked, and there will be an anomoly in that there is a difference in passport mumbers which is part of the database key, so technically a first report which could cause a rejection. Do this one on site and the following ones on-line.

How difficult was it to renew your passport at the embassy in Bangkok and how long did it take? I am running out of pages in mine. Iโ€™m staying right down the street.

@Bill *********
maybe it took a long time since he went to the airport and not Bangkok.

Processing time to renew passports by mail is the same as applying in person.

Good question. I don't know because I did mine by mail.

You might also check if they need a letter from your embassy stating the reason for getting a new passport even though the reason is obvious. My embassy automatically gave me this letter along with my new passport to give to immigration.

2) a new passport has nothing to do with your 90 day report timing. You will not get a new 90 day report.

Everything else, ask them when you're there.
