What should you do if your Non-O retirement visa application is pending approval while your partner's is delayed?

Has anyone successfully applied for a non-o retirement visa being resident in one country but a citizen of another?

For context, OH is Dutch, I am British and we applied for the visas from the UK within 10 days of each other. We sent near-identical documents each (UK driving licence with address, 3 mths UK bank statements with our own names and address on one pdf as per their website) and of course my UK passport and his Dutch one. My visa came through within 15 working days but OH is still waiting. Status has moved from ‘pending doc check” to “pending approval”and has been like that for a week. We can’t find anything on the Thai-London website except that they want proof of residency which we took to mean the usual documents we sent through. They haven’t asked OH for more documents but now we are worrying that they wanted his Settled status proof and will reject his application because he didn’t sent it, even though they only appear to want specific proof of immigration status for the DTV visa.

*Can anyone advise? Thanks! 😊

*I’ve also posted this on the Thai visa forum.
Answer summary
A British expat and their Dutch partner applied for Non-O retirement visas from the UK, with the British applicant receiving approval within 15 days while the Dutch partner's application is still pending. Concerns arise over the need for proof of residency and the correct documentation submitted. Responses suggest that if the status is 'pending approval', documents have likely been accepted. It is advised to contact the Thai embassy for clarification, and it's important for applicants to provide proof of immigration status for smooth processing.

Hi, we are considering a non o a visa and after reading this post can you please explain the process of extending the visa when the 12 months is almost up.

We were going to let the visa lapse and apply again for a further 12 months once we were back in our home country.

But if it’s renewable/extendable based on initial financial requirements (800,000baht in own country account) we wouldn’t need to just extend/renew.

Thanks

Does your OH have a positive immigration status in the UK? If so they should have provided proof of that, normally using the evisa status page on gov.uk website

This is from the London Website under Eligibility

"Eligibility

The Embassy accepts visa applications from all passport holders who have an eligible immigration status or permanent residence (for DTV applications) and currently reside in the UK, Ireland, or UK Territories. Otherwise, it may lead to a delay in the visa process or the refusal of an application without prior notice"

yes he’s got settled status from back in 2019. He didn’t provide it in his application as we never considered he’d need it with his proof of bank statements,

UK income and drivers licence and he’s never been asked for it anywhere since he got it and it’s linked to his Dutch passport anyway. Plus, the embassy gumf only seemed to require it for a DTV visa.

I’d have thought if they want him to provide it wouldn’t they write saying they need extra information or is that me being naive?

they may yet come back and ask for it. I've no idea if they are able, or willing, to verify it themselves

if that’s what the hold up is, hopefully they ask rather than just turn him down. We are travelling to Thailand in December but leaving the UK to start our trip in Vietnam at the end of October!
