What are the steps for a smooth immigration experience when extending a Non-O visa in Thailand?

I'll try to make this as succinct as possible:

* 15Mar: Arrived BKK on a Non-O, staying in a private residence, TM30 submitted

* 25Mar: Got the "official" TM30 from immigration, this allowed me to open bank account, deposited 800K THB that day.

* 30May: Planning visit to immigration to get 1 year extension for Non-O

* 12Jun: Current Non-O stamp in passport expires

Questions:

* What do I need to do to have a smooth experience with immigration on 30May?

* I know I have to go to my bank and get...something??? Official letter? Stamp in my passbook? Something else?

* Do I need to do ANYTHING else other than proof of funds? Refresh the TM30? Etc?

I assume I can initiate this as soon as the funds have "seasoned" i.e. 2 months in bank. I don't want to wait until the last minute and have my current visa expire due to issues with immigration.

Thanks...

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is preparing for a 1-year extension of their Non-O visa in Thailand and has outlined their timeline since arriving in Bangkok. They are seeking guidance on the procedures to follow for a smooth immigration experience, including requirements for proof of funds, necessary documents from the bank, and whether they need to refresh the TM30 registration. The comments suggest that the official requirements may differ and the user is encouraged to consult with their local immigration office for specific advice.

That’s the checklist I’ve been given.

Official list doesn’t always match what one officer wants.

Go ask your immigration

I honestly appreciate the reply. But it essentially is saying...nothing.

I doubt immigration would answer my questions over the phone, or even answer the phone, otherwise I'd call. I'll have to weigh up which is easier: make a trip early to ask questions, then return on 30 May to...a different officer and perhaps different requirements, since the requirements depend on what officer I get? Or go on 30 May and hope for the best. I'll still have a two week window to sort things out on 30 May.

@Scott *****
you would be wrong in your assumption Most immigration offices are more than happy to provide details of their requirements as they realise they are all different

I don’t understand why people ask questions and then argue the answers 😫

@Scott *****
My immigration would answer via phone. But yours may not. I didn’t say call. You should definitely go there in person. They will provide a list

visit your Immigration and ask for their handout list of requirements for the application to the "1-year extension of the temporary stay permit based on retirement". Each office has this list. And each Immigration officer will be following this list. Regarding the financial proof: on the morning of the day you want to apply, visit the bank and ask them for the "bank letter of guarantee" (in Thai: Rab Roong Thanakan) which will confirm that a minimum of 800,000 THB has been seasoned for 2 months. Update the bankbook. When leaving the bank with this letter, withdraw asmall amount at their ATM and keep the receipt. Then visit Immigration

Much better to use the atm before updating the book.

Then it will show the balance of the day and that’s what the officer need to see.

@Robert *******
I always do it after I leave the bank with the letter, my Immigration (Sisaket) doesn't care. But of course you are right, better withdraw before updating the bankbook at the counter
