What are the requirements for applying for a 90-day Non-O visa in Bangkok?

Hi, many thanks for all the useful info you provide (particularly Ellie’s charts), based on which I’m preparing an application for 90 day Non-O inside Thailand (before 1 year extension based on retirement) and have following clarifications:

Which immigration office do I need to use in Bangkok and confirm review period there will be 15 working days? (maybe I could book an appointment but that meant nothing when I did it for my visa exempt extension last week)

Currently opening TH bank account and transferring funds, they will come from my UK bank account via a currency exchange house (since rate is ~4% better than interbank rate) - is that likely to cause any snags and will the bank statement(s) be sufficient to (A) demonstrate the funds are in a TH bank account and (B) that they came from overseas?

I now have a lease and also a TM30 from initial AirBnb stay - the chart and previous posts don’t indicate if either of these (or anything else) is required?

As always, thanks for all you do for us 🇹🇭❤️

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking guidance on applying for a 90-day Non-O visa in Bangkok, specifically about the appropriate immigration office to approach, the review period for the visa, and banking procedures for demonstrating overseas funds. Key points include applying at the Chaengwattana Immigration office, ensuring funds are clearly marked as international transfers on bank statements, and being aware of the need for a new TM30 when filing a visa application.

The currency exchange house needs to be outside Thailand to show the international transfer. I would go UK bank to Thai bank to make it as clear as possible.

You will need a new TM30 to file your TM47 90 day report at your new address. When traveling in country, book in your tiraks name to avoid new TM30 filings.

thank you for your advice, the currency house is in the UK and all previous transfers (AED-GBP) appear clearly as international, TBH I’ve never done GBP-THB yet but it will appear as international.

On TM30, are you saying I need one for the 90 day Non-O application and that can’t be my original one (since I’m still a tourist officially and nowhere near having to do a 90 day report just yet, I thought that came after receiving 1 year extension)? TIA

Of course I will follow the wisdom of the moderators and go there beforehand to find out exactly what’s what.

You do not need anything to apply for the 90 Day O, you are not a resident yet. You will need it to do your 90 day reports.

To apply for the one year extension of the O, it will be easier with a lease and matching TM30. That is one of the things they give you the 90 days to arrange. A letter from friends or family inviting you to stay, along with a copy of the housebook would work.

, Most immigration offices require you to have a 'long-term' lease of your accommodation for your in-country Non-O visa based on retirement. In that case, you have to have a lease contract and TM30 on that address to be able to apply for your in-country Non-O visa.

In Bangkok, you are going to go to Chaengwattana Immigration office, Government Complex Building B.

And you can book online. If you book online, you need to bring a printout of the appointment and show it to the officer.

Check this requirements list from Bangkok office, but you still NEED to go to CW to get the latest one.

As shown in the requirements sheet, You need to have more than 15 days (<- calendar days).

Your funds have to be shown as international transfers in your bank record.

Doesn't matter how much better the rate is moving your money if it doesn't flag into your thai bank account as an international transfer 😕

It sounds like you didn't go out there yet and get the hand out they have in that section listing the exact documents you need 😕

That would be the prudent thing to do seeing as those sheets are a guideline of what you MIGHT need and the hand out lists the stuff you DO need.

You apply at the main immigration office at the government complex (Building B) and you want Counter C-1.

You need a MINIMUM of 15 days left on your current stamp to apply for the in country Non-O visa at C/W, because it goes under review for 14 days and then you go back to that section to get the 90 day stamp and Non-O visa inked in
