I wanted to share an anonymised version of my experience because posts in this group were extremely helpful when I was preparing my application.
Timeline:
• Day 1: Submitted and paid online late in the evening London Embassy.
• Day 3: Received a request for additional documents
• Day 4: Uploaded everything requested
• Day 4: DTV approved
My circumstances:
• British citizen applying from the UK
• Full-time employee of a UK-registered company
• My role can be performed remotely
• My employer confirmed that my employment would continue while I was in Thailand
• I will not work for Thai companies or clients
• I applied independently without an agent
Financial evidence:
My qualifying funds had previously been held in another established savings account. I moved approximately £12,000 into my UK current account around three weeks before submitting the application.
My original submission included three months of downloaded bank statements, together with evidence showing the source of the savings and the matching transfer into my current account.
The Embassy subsequently requested recent personal bank statements printed and officially stamped by my local bank branch. In my individual case, they required:
• A closing balance of at least £11,000
• Recent bank-issued evidence
• Confirmation from the transaction history that the qualifying balance had been held for at least 10 days
This should not necessarily be treated as a universal rule, as requirements may vary between applicants. However, in my case, London accepted funds that had been in my current account for more than 10 days, supported by evidence of their source and three months of statements.
The Embassy also requested:
• A clearer colour image of my passport biodata and signature pages
• Three months of payslips
• Three months of full bank statements with salary payments highlighted
• Recent UK tax or HMRC employment evidence
• A signed declaration confirming that I would only work remotely for my overseas employer and would not undertake employment or other income-generating activity within Thailand
• A signed declaration confirming that I would remain in the UK until the application had been decided
My employment evidence included:
• Employment contract
• Employer confirmation letter authorising remote work
• Evidence that the employer was a registered UK company
• An explanation of my role and how any necessary in-person duties would continue to be covered in the UK
The distinction in my case was that three months of statements were requested to demonstrate my income and transaction history, but the Embassy did not require the entire qualifying balance to have remained in my current account throughout those three months.
Every application is assessed individually, but I hope this provides a useful reference for other employees applying through London, particularly where established savings have recently been moved into a current account.
Five-year, multiple-entry DTV approved. Very relieved and grateful for all the useful information shared in this group! 🇹🇭
