I wanted to post this. Idk if it matters to most people. It’s taken from this video I will link below. Just an official immigration officer stating all you will need upon reentry with Dtv is your evisa printout. I mean people took a lot of time out of their lives and applied for this visa based on this information. [members only]

Re-Entering via the Border (The Loophole Implication)

At [[12:33]([members only])], the host asks specifically: *When you leave and come back, do you need any documentation to get the next 180 days going?*

The official responds:

>

*"When they leave the country and they come back, they would have to show the DTV Visa. That's it... It's that simple. When you want to re-enter Thailand using the DTV Visa, you can do that as many times as you want within the 5 years."*
Answer summary
The discussion revolves around the requirements for re-entering Thailand with a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV). An official in a video stated that showing the DTV visa printout is sufficient for re-entry. However, many commenters express skepticism about the reliability of this information, noting that the official was from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and not immigration, and emphasizing that visa rules in Thailand can change frequently. They share personal experiences indicating that while some have had no issues re-entering multiple times, regulations and procedures may vary and are subject to change.

I got my DTV at the end of 2024. It was a different world back then.

Since 1932 Thailand has already had 20 constitutions and charters, many military coups, and just in the last 20 years we have had around 10 different prime ministers. We had military coups in 2006 and again in 2014.

So if our constitution, government and prime minister can change this many times, I really wouldn’t expect a visa rule or something an immigration officer said in a video years ago to stay exactly the same forever.

I understand people spent a lot of time and money applying for DTV based on the information they were given at that time. But that doesn’t mean immigration cannot change how they enforce it later.

Your DTV can still be valid for 5 years, but immigration can still become stricter and ask for more evidence when you re-enter Thailand.

Things change here quite often. Especially when it comes to visa and immigration rules.

2 years old. Might as well be a lifetime with how many changes to the visa rules

The problem is each Immigration office in Thailand interprets the laws as they see fit and the MFA officials around the word in various countries do the same thing.

Welcome to the reality of dealing with Thai officialdom.

In Thailand the only consistency is inconsistency.

It's a 2 year old video, it really doesn't mean anything in 2026. You're talking about the most schizophrenic country. I know of no other country on earth with as unstable of laws and policies that change by the week, most other countries once you become familiar with the rules you don't need to check again - they won't change for 5-10 years+

To be fair, marriage based visas have been around since 1979 and retirement visas have been around since 1998. Rules often change but there's some peace of mind in knowing that for foreigners here for the long haul (they usually are in 1 of those 2 visa categories), they will remain eligible that visa, albeit with frequent, annoying paperwork that often changes.

As we saw just this week, things can change in the blink of an eye. This video is just a historical record right now.

Unfortunately, he is not an immigration officer. He works for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which oversees embassies and visa process. When you enter the country, you come in contact with the Department of Immigration, an entirely separate government organization, not even in the same division of government (e.g. US immigration reports to Secretary of Homeland Security while Embassy staff report to Secretary of State). So he really can’t be deciding what immigration will/will not do. Immigration was never involved with designing this visa and never liked it. Furthermore, the government has completely changed since then. This guy, since he was a senior level guy, probably doesn’t even have that role anymore)

DTV_BegPecker Exactly this. My best pal is an Ambassador. When I went back to UK for football last year I was explaining the DTV. Without going into the language he used he said the Foreign Office would be told to keep in their lane.

I don't know why everyone argue about leaving and coming back, i had my dtv back on August

I leave and come back every 60 days, each visit is 2 weeks

Entered and exited nearly 6 times no question asked, last time only they asked to show them money in cash, i showed 2k and they just let me in

SilverBlueberry2057 Exactly. 99.9% of DTV holders enter exactly as you do, no questions, just stamped in. One or two people have been pulled and denied entry, but those were specific cases. The one I do know 100% from a number of sources was two Ukrainian guys on Muay Thai who had never attended their course. When the gym was called, there was no record of them at all.

SilverBlueberry2057 Thanks for your balanced report. That's how it is. That you were asked to show any cash was, in fact, most unusual.

This is a 2 years old video and was made exactly after DTV was released. Not actual

It is both actual and currently factual. After dismissing the troll reports, those who exaggerate (IO looked at me sideways etc) we are left with very few verifiable reports of being asked to complete a Passenger Statement Form. However, that appears to be limited to Chaing Mai and Phuket Airports. Even at those airports there are no very recent reports.

The video is 2 years old when there was a different ruling political party, now we have a different party at Centre, and their policy is different to that of the previous government.

As others have said, I would not be relying on the information in this video at this time. Much of it may still be correct, but if an immigration officer was questioning me, I certainly would not be saying, "Ah, but the MFA guy said something in an interview in November 2024."

Can just do what some people in here do; walk around with a binder with all their printouts, application, mortgage and their bank statement for the last 3 months updated continuously. Oh yeh and present the laminated A3 as well.

The go-to vid back In the early DTV days. He is correct on the reentry for 99.5 % of DTVERS.

1. He's not an immigration officer, he was working for the MFA headquarters. MFA doesn't control borders, it issues visas.

2. He got moved to Sydney's consulate. As everything here, things could change quickly. His government got replaced by a much stricter ones when it comes to immigration. Read the daily news. I'm not saying what he says is all wrong but plenty of things may change.

PositiveLynx7934 The sentence he was moved to a Consulate tells you quite a bit.

Look, it was a completely different government back then, and for the majority of people it is still like that. But times are changing and Thailand changes all the time, even before the DTV. It's just how it is. At least the visa is still available...
