Hi everyone need some advice, ive been trying to figure out what exactly are the requirements for the DTV visa, im seeing on this website i just need to show proof of my employment earning minimum of $1200 usd per month, but i hear other people say i also need to show proof i have 500k baht in my account, is that true or would a decent amount of savings plus proof of more than $1200 steady income and employment be enough?
Answer summary
The requirements for obtaining a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) in Thailand can be confusing. Most commenters agree that you need a minimum of 500,000 THB in your bank account, with some stating this must be held for at least 3-6 months. While proof of monthly income of 1,200 USD may be mentioned, it seems that the primary requirement is the bank balance. Some individuals have successfully received the visa with higher savings but lower income, indicating that exact requirements may vary by case and embassy discretion.

There is NO monthly income requirement

Only the 500.000 deposited in bank 3 months before

I used Wise statements

No problems

Stop the nonsense

Has anyone here applied for a DTV using a sponsor instead of having the 500,000 THB in their own bank account? Is sponsorship actually an option, and does anyone have experience with this?

Need the savings. But some places don’t require it to have been in the account for the full 3-6 months of bank statements just having 500k as the ending balance and that it’s been an active account not just something you made for that 500k to sit in

They only want to see that you have a monthly income PLUS 500k baht in your bank account.

Both are valid and needed

Softpower route no income needed more than 500k but workation also monthly income, softpower needs some activity and invitation letters tho

Unless they removed the workcation category, this is misinformation.

Trying to figure out? It only take a simple google search. And yes, you need 500k in your personal bank account hel for at least 3 months

The official requirements are listed on the eVisa website here (

individual consular offices may have more requirements but there’s generally no set threshold for income but you will absolutely need 500k THB in a bank account in order to get the visa.

Your monthly income is not that relevant, depends case-by-case. I had less income, still got the workation dtv for 5 years. Though, I did show a much higher amount in my bank then the 500 k THB. 500 k THB (or equivalent in other currency) for 3-6 months is a MUST. All else depends on your passport, provided supporting documents and the embassy.

They should probably double the income to minimum 80k a month in baht,

40k is begging for trouble

There is no 40k requirement. There is no requirement at all, actually. But it could be different depending on what country you apply from, because in Sweden where I applied there is no income requirement. The only requirement is that you work and that you have the 500k. But I agree that there should be a requirement to be able to show the 500k, just to keep it in an account. So if there's any problems, you can always sort them out and get back to your home country.

There are no specifications or guidelines for income related to the dtv. You will be required to show the 500k thb in savings. They may ask you how you plan to support yourself in thailand beyond the 500k, but that's at the embassies discretion. The financial requirements are the same for soft power and workation.

Well now I'm curious too. I didn't read anywhere on any Thai/US embassy website saying that specify 1200 thb monthly needed to be shown.

No, you must show the 500,000 THB in savings regardless of your high income
