Financial requirements after being approved

Hello, I just got my workation DTV approved a few weeks ago and will enter Thailand in a couple of days.

To meet the financial requirements for the visa, I transferred money from a stockbroker depot to my bank account and let it sit there for the required 3 months before applying.

Now that I got my visa I don’t find any clear information of whether I need to keep cash if atleast 500k thb in € in my bank account. Did anybody encounter any problems when his bank account dropped beneath the 500k thb? I can show a balance of several hundred thousand € in my stockmarket depot in my name if needed.
Answer summary
The post discusses the financial requirements associated with the Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) for Thailand, specifically whether the applicant must maintain a minimum bank balance of 500,000 THB after their visa has been approved. Various comments clarify that while initial proof of funds is necessary for application and perhaps for extensions, there have been no credible reports of needing to show ongoing bank balances upon entry or during the DTV validity period.

I would not take the risk as getting stricter policies

Application proof and ongoing holding are different questions. Many people keep the 500k path liquid through entry because border/immigration stories get messy when the file said bank cash and the reality is a brokerage screenshot. If you move funds, keep a clean paper trail that still matches the category you used. Don’t optimize yield the week before first landing.

Only if you attempt an in-country extension are you required to show the funds again. There have been no credible reports of anybody having to show the funds at any other time. There was no notification during the application process that said this would be an ongoing requirement.

Go in, gamble with your money, if you still have it - put it back in the bank next time you need to enter. Show in the app that it's in a regular bank account. Never know if you get the IO that's having a bad day. Avoid Phuket as an entry point...

Gamble? Investing in the stock market always pays. Invest in mutual funds and you will earn a lot and be able to retire early

Just pulling the OPs leg. Crashes, however, happen. So you can't really say "always pays".

If you extend in Thailand they may ask to see those funds in that account again. Less likely if you extend by leaving and returning for a fresh stamp. Although I have heard people asked to show bank balance evidence upon reentering...though I cannot confirm if those examples were actually legitimate.

Anonymous participant 390 If you extend at immigration you have to show the 500k - no "May" about it. That rule was issued by Immigrstion HQ.

fixed it :)

Anonymous participant 390 Yeah, it took a long time before immigration in Bangkok released guidance for extensions. It was about 5 months after the DTV was launched. Knew they had to do it before the 6 months were up. Money has to be there for 30 days before the extension.

Only time anyone has had to show 500,000 in a bank account again once the DTV is issued at the immigration office for an extension. Not upon entry points

or if the Immigration wants to see it when entering the country😉

Za Fixer They DO NOT want to see this when entering the country. There are zero credible reports of this having happened... And also, if this was a requirement for re-entry, the requirement would be clearly published via some official source(s). It is not. So, perhaps it is time to stop with the "what if" stories. I have been in and out 8 times with my DTV. Not once have I been asked anything other than my passport and the printed e-visa. I have also read exactly ZERO CREDIBLE NON-ANONYMOUS FIRST HAND reports of that having happened to anyone else. So, stop your what-ifs and focus on reality for a change.

Once again with your theory. Please cite confirmed reports of this. If there are confirmed reports what % of people are asked.

If you land in Phuket, they might ask to see all of those documents again. But it's not the norm, you have the visa now. Any additional checks will be to make sure you're not working in Thailand.
