Why was my DTV Soft Power visa application cancelled after submitting all required documents?

DTV Soft Power Application Cancelled.

Applied at New Delhi Embassy on 26th Feb.

Further document request regarding sources of income on 28th Feb.

Submitted Annual Tax Statement (Form 26AS), which records amount paid and tax deducted, of current and last financial years on 1st March. Stated in a cover letter that I'm unemployed and intend to fund my stay in Thailand using my savings and any income from investments. Included transaction statements of gold investments and crypto.

Received notification that my visa application has been cancelled on 3rd March.

I had 500k THB in my bank account for less than a month. I don't think I made any mistake while filling out the visa application on the website.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user's DTV Soft Power Visa application submitted at the New Delhi Embassy was cancelled shortly after being requested to provide further documentation related to their income sources. Despite submitting supporting financial documentation, including a tax statement and investment details, the application was rejected. Community comments suggest that the rejection may relate to the requirement of maintaining a stable bank balance for a duration of time, concerns about declaring unemployment, and differing requirements across embassies. Recommendations include contacting the embassy for clarification and considering alternative application locations.

You simply applied for wrong visa hence it's cancelled, you should apply for elite visa

Just out of curiosity- do you know if applying from Toronto or Vancouver in Canada, reliable and legitimate?

To be frank, different embassies in different countries have different requirements so maybe try in some other country. However, another issue may be that income derived from investments may not be too useful to the embassy because even if it shows a monthly profit and you do withdraw it, it may not be considered a stable income.

Thai Consulates and Embassies in India are pretty strict. And since you mentioned unemployed in your application, your chances of rejection just skyrocketed. If your source of income is from investment, you should just have mentioned you're a stock trader and you get X amount of money every month from your investments as dividends to support your daily life. Never should you have mentioned "unemployed".

Secondly, you need to have 500K THB for at least 6 months. I was personally told this by Kolkata Consulate. I'm assuming it's true for all the consulates in India.

Thirdly, email the Embassy with your application number and ask for the reason for cancellation/rejection. Try to fix your mistake next time you apply.

Since you application has been recently rejected, apply after at least 2 months. And if possible apply from Thai Embassy in Laos, Jakarta, Cambodia or Vietnam. However I hear that a lot of DTV visa holders are being questioned by Immigration Officers at the airports if their DTV visa has been issued from Vietnam.

So it's definitely better to wait and have 500k in the bank account for 3 months before reapplying from Jakarta?

Yes. And prepare your backstory really good. Do not mention you're unemployed. Better to have a regular source of income. If you're an investor, you can start withdrawing X amount every month for next 3 months, and show that as your regular income from investment. Do not mention you're looking for new job or you are currently unemployed, instead say that you're taking a break from work and you have regular income from your investment to support your lifestyle. They may call you for an interview as well, so prepare accordingly and have proofs and documents ready. You can also say that your father is sponsoring you (prepare a sponsor letter, your father's bank statement and his employment details in that case).

correct ✅.. it's dependent on the Thai Embassy or Consulate where application for the DTV visa is submitted.

Where are you physically located? You state you plan to cover yourself using your savings, but the embassy will see that your bank didn’t have much savings more than the last few months. Crypto and gold won’t be sufficient evidence

But you had all the correct details for the Muay Thai school?

I think as a part of the visa you need to keep at least 500k in your bank at all times during your stay, I may be wrong

Another warning and reason to stop applying at Joe Blows Far East Embassy with limited approvals and extra documents and requirements. Go with the tried and tested embassies surrounding Thailand.

This is very true and good advice, but for the most populous country in the world and host to the 2nd/3rd highest number of Thai Consulates (less than China and as many as in the USA), it would be nice to have more 'on the ground' info about getting Thai E–Visas in India....

among over 1.4 billion people, there should be more and plenty of people obtaining Thai E–Visas, notwithstanding language and economic barriers....

definitely some locals should pay a visit and get an interview lowdown on what they are looking for at that embassy. It's not fair if they keep springing up undocumented requirements in the middle of the process.

Wise advice ✅

Did you check if you need 3 months seasaoning of 500k? Some embassies in India require that.

You should wait for your to have the funds in your accounts for 3 months. Sounds like that embassy is pretty strict. It has to be liquid, not investments. Can you travel to another country to apply? They should not be asking for income for soft power.

What is your passport nation? Indian ?

Which Thai Embassy or Consulate did you apply for the DTV visa...

In India ??
