Do any of you have examples of hand drawn maps which have been accepted by immigration when applying for one year extension based on married to a Thai?
Need to do mine soon and really like to get an idea of how artistic or how childlike they can be. My drawing skills leave a lot to be desired ๐ฅด

TLDR : Answer Summary
Many expats share their experiences with hand-drawn maps submitted during their visa extension applications based on marriage to a Thai spouse. Responses indicate that the artistic quality of the map is not critically evaluated by immigration officers. Some individuals had success with very simplistic maps while others created more detailed versions, only to find that simpler designs, like basic shapes and lines indicating their address or significant landmarks, were sufficient. There is also mention that certain immigration offices may have their own requirements, with some accepting photocopies or maps from Google while others prefer hand-drawn maps with basic landmarks. Therefore, determining what is acceptable may depend significantly on the specific local immigration office.

this is how "detailed" mine map is and I've used it for 10+ years every year, no questions asked
I do write the address at the bottom of the paper, but that's it

Draw a map from the nearest landmark. It could be a part of checking that you are really living at the location. It depends on your local immigration office whether they accept Google Maps or not.
Attached style map can work as a hand-drawn map.

Mine was sloppy and not particularly accurate. No problem. They barely gave it a glance except to check it off the list as being done.

I spend hours building a beautiful map and was proud of the result only to be disposed of by the immigration officer. I received a blanc piece of paper and was ordered to draw 2 vertical lines, write my steetname in between and a little house next to it. My visa was approved ๐

Ask at your local office.

My drawing skills are dire too. A number of years ago one of the immigration officers took my rough map and redrew it so I just use photocopies of that now. He wanted a fair bit of detail, the complete 30km route from where I live to immigration including all junctions and traffic lights plus some recognised landmarks

I used to pause from Google maps, the copy paper here is thin enough for that. But a friend of mine used this (see picture) one at Phuket... was also good enough for many years. Last year they finally changed from "hand drawn" to a print out from Google maps with coordinates.

I ask my partner to draw it. Think writing landmarks' names in Thai is easier all round.
