TLDR : Answer Summary
The poster is seeking advice after being told they need to maintain a 500,000 THB balance in their bank account for 30 days prior to extending their DTV. Community responses confirm this requirement and suggest that doing a border run, particularly to Laos, might be a simpler alternative for visa extension compared to applying directly at immigration, which can involve more scrutiny and paperwork.

Wise move with the boarder run I’d say, seems to be a lot of scrutiny with the 90 day extensions

not scrutiny it's the same process as when you applied. Everyone should still have their same docs or just get update no issue cheaper than border run 1900 bht 180 days done

When you apply for an extension at immigration office, they just check if you still use the visa correct and comply to all requirements. You should have the 500K always when you are in Thailand.

Only when you still comply, you will get the extension.

At the border they do not check most times.

When you book a border run, they wil also arrange a smooth operation for you at immigration, that is where you pay for.

Wouldn’t say easy. On the train now from Padang Besar. They had no idea what my Visa was. Almost didn’t let me in with it. Basically had to explain how it worked.

500k equivalent for the last 30 days and a complete update of ALL other paperwork would be normal for extension

Anonymous participant 397 The extension is after 180 days. You are thinking about a "Renewal" which nobody as yet knows if it will be possible.
