TLDR : Answer Summary
If you're planning to border bounce from Chiang Khong to Laos on an O/A Retirement visa without a re-entry permit, it seems that the primary requirement is proof of accommodation. Many travelers have reported that Thai Immigration Officers are primarily interested in where you will be staying when you re-enter Thailand. Additional proofs, such as onward travel, proof of funds (around 20,000 baht), and accommodation booking, have been mentioned but appear not to be strictly enforced, based on various personal experiences at the border.
