What are the requirements for applying for a Non-O visa in the UK while getting a new passport?

I need a new passport, heading back to the UK doing that and a new O visa seems to be the most efficient way to get it done in a short time frame.

Checking the requirements for O visa in the UK, do I need to show proof of address if so can my bank statements do that?

Or is it just proof of funds, Thai marriage certificate, passport, etc.? I got a weird suggestion from Google that I would need an invitation letter from my wife, as well as some sort of bill or rental agreement from the UK, it suggested getting a family member to write a lodging agreement - reminded me of Bread, but I think that is an age thing.

For non-o based on married to a Thai - upload photo of marriage certificate - digital photo - proof of address - 3 x months bank statements for proof of the 400k thb - photo of wife’s Thai ID - address where staying - £60 Processing fee 🙏

I did mine in uk at the begining of december. I submited the form on the website and put my old passport in the post on a monday at 4pm.

On the thursday, 3 days later my new passport arrived

When i returned to thailand, i went to immigrationั่, they transfered my visa etc to the new one no problem.

I also confirmed with the driving licence ( which uses your passport number), that you dont need to renew it until expiry date, even though you now have a different passport number

Cheers - yes entered on a visa exemption, wasn;t sure of what my timeline was for being here, it's been extended, so have around 5 weeks left on the 60 days - enough airmiles that I can go back without out of pocket costs on flights and get a passport in a week.

I've basically ended up with an expired Thai driver license, a bank chasing me for proof of residence in Thailand (again), a passport that has two good pages, and two pages abused by old 90 day staples, and a need for an O visa and extension in the future.

Current toss up is

Go apply for residence certificate this week, booked already for tomorrow anyway, go to Laos or HCM (so I can do it all online, no need to go pay at embassy) - get O visa, return, renew driving license for 5 instead of 2 years with o visa, apply for passport, get new passport, transfer visa (the trip to immigration for this alone makes me think heading to the UK for two weeks is worth it). extend visa in august(ish)

I haven't done the Laos route in 20 years, so don't know what it is like anymore.

Or go to UK, get passport in a week, non-o I assume in 10 days, return.

Option 2 stops me having any future issues with picky check in folks worrying about the staple holes. Which niggles at the back of my mind about going to Laos or HCM

There are agents that will do it in Bangkok for you usually around £250  takes about 3 weeks,you can get one quicker but it cost more,still cheaper than a return flight

A bank statement showing a UK address should be fine, alternatively a utility bill or UK driving licence.

When applying for an eVisa you need proof of location so I use either my UK driving licence or my current council tax bill

Probably just as quick to get a new passport whilst in Thailand, if you have enough time left on your visa/extension. Cheaper than flying back to blighty.

you need proof of a booked hotel accomodation, or the invitation from your wife and copies of her housebook and cetera. A few booked nights on booking com and the upload of the booking pdf seems to be the easiest way (and don't worry about any invitation from your wife). Right after having uploaded the accommodation bookings into the e-visa application, you can cancel them !
