What are the requirements and timing for applying for a Thai marriage visa extension?
Hi everyone, I need some advice regarding my Thai marriage visa extension.
I’m currently on a 90-day Non-Immigrant visa expiring on June 24. I have already deposited 400,000 THB in my Thai bank account and it will complete 2 months on June 3.
My questions:
Can I apply for the 1-year extension on June 4 (about 20 days before expiry), or do I need to apply at least 30 days before?
If I apply earlier than June 3, the deposit won’t yet be 2 months—would that cause a problem?
Apart from passport, bank guarantee letter, bank book, marriage certificate, wife’s ID, and TM30, is there anything else I should prepare?

4 photos of you and your wife inside and outside of the house (as in TM30) with house number clearly shown. House location as well I used google map.

We used selfies. No problem.

ConfidentMango3244 yup and clearly mark where exactly you house is on the map. Don’t use selfie. I just set timer on my phone to take the photos. 2 outside, 1 front of the house with house number and 1 whole house. 2 inside, 1 sitting on a sofa in the lounge and 1 in the bedroom.

The balance letter and passbook must be up to the date of application, so it’s a good idea to make a small transaction on that day before updating the passbook. The bank can issue the statement (at least 3 months) only until the day before, but it’s ok.

Cris Murl yes, in Bangkok they will give you an “under consideration” stamp and you have to return 21 days later for the extension stamp if approved. During that time, there may be a home visit. (And they may ask to show your updated passbook to show 400k is still there)

I was always told they needed 20 to 30 days for processing the visa.

That doesn't mean anything as far as when you can apply. You will receive an under consideration stamp regardless of applying 30 days before your current stay ends, or the day it ends.Cris ******

We just did this last week. In Bangkok, you can apply up to 45 days before expiration of the 90-day visa, but you definitely need to have the 400k seasoned for at least two months by then. (Hope it’s not Bangkok Bank.) I will post a photo of all requirements below.

Also fill out forms TM2, TM9, TM10, TM11. And make two sets of photocopies of everything including every passport page (except blank pages).

I have no idea why they have made the spouse visa difficult, it used to be a lot easier in future ill be doing a retirement visaRodney *************

You can apply any time from the 4th of June through to the 24th of June but I wouldn't recommend leaving it until the last day. You will also need 3 months worth of bank statements, and your wife of course, but it's a good idea to visit the immigration office you will use and ask them for the exact requirements.
