Hey guys, wanted to inquire something, I recently got my student visa renewed by my university, they gave me an Ed Plus visa with re-entry exemption.

Now, my question is, I am currently doing my internship in Bangkok, and will most likely end up working full time in this company, in this case, I have read that having an ED plus visa means I don't need to go out of Thailand back to my country to apply for non immigrant B visa, apparently the new ed plus visa lets me convert my visa to working visa from Thailand, regardless of which country passport I hold, can someone please confirm this? THANKS IN ADVANCE.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about converting their ED Plus visa, which they obtained through a university, to a working visa in Thailand while doing an internship. They mention a belief that this process can be done without leaving the country, as per recent information. A comment suggests that although this conversion is theoretically possible, there are no known successful cases.

In THEORY you are correct the ED Plus extension can indeed be switched to another visa type inside thailand

BUT

I don't know a single person who has successfully done it

It was posted on the information image that Immigrations put out about it when they rolled the program back on July 15th 2024

you or your employer need to go to the immigration office (which is Chaengwattana from the stamps you have) and ask how it's done well before you're going to switch over to employment

Yes I saw that graphic too, but what do you mean by anyone not being able to do it, is there like a grey area to the rules or something? Or they just put this news out for no reason haha.

@Far****
I mean that NO ONE has posted that they graduated, took the "extra free year" extension and then were able to switch it to another visa/extension type inside thailand

The program has only been out 10 months so far

AND

That's why I said you and/or your new employer need to GO to Chaengwattana and see how the process actually works

Hmm makes sense, I'll try it, if it works I'll post here again for others.
