I keep getting mixed reports on this issue so I was wondering if someone could tell me which requirements I have to meet if I want to obtain a visa exemption stamp on arrival. I'm in Laos right now. My country is among the countries whose citizens are granted visa exemption on arrival.

TLDR : Answer Summary
To obtain a visa exemption stamp on arrival in Thailand from Laos, ensure that you are from one of the 52 countries eligible for the visa-exempt entry program. When entering Thailand, you may need to provide proof of funds, typically 20,000 baht in cash. If you have not utilized the visa-exempt entry twice in the current year, you should be able to cross the land border without issues.

And just to set everyone straight, IF you are asked for proof of funds on a visa exempt or visa waiver entry it is 20k baht or the equivalent in CASH,

The only people who get to show 10k are the people who BUY a "Visa On Arrival" when they enter thailand for 2000baht.

Did the amount change? "Provide proof of funds of at least 10,000 THB for single travelers, or 20,000 THB per family during your stay in Thailand."

It is HIGHLY unlikely to be asked for any of the "3-proofz" (funds, lodging, onward travel) coming in by land at ANY of the Lao border crossings.

People who had 2+ years of covid extensions bounced out and right back with not a word said to them at all ๐Ÿ˜ฎ That is the most "user friendly" country to enter thailand from ๐Ÿ™‚

If you are indeed from one of the 52 countries that get in to thailand FREE on the "visa exempt" entry program you should have no issue crossing by the land border at Nong Khai into thailand (assuming you haven't entered thailand on a visa exempt entry stamp by land two times yet this year)
