Hello. On December 15. I have been in Thailand for 90 days. 2 months on arrival card and one month extension. That’s why I am taking a vacation to the Philippines dec 14. But with the new boarder run rules I am afraid to get rejected when I try to re enter the country. As I have understood it. I can only be in the country of 90 days a year without long term visa such as DTV. Have anyone recently tried to re enter Thailand after a 90 day period with just arrival visa?
If I try to come back to Thailand dec 26, will that be a risk? Should I wait to January, so that hopefully i can get 90 more days since it’s a new year?
Sorry that it’s not a direct DTV question. You can delete it you want.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is concerned about re-entering Thailand after staying for 90 days on an arrival visa, given the recent border run rules. They plan to vacation in the Philippines and are unsure whether re-entering Thailand shortly thereafter will pose a risk, or if they should wait until January to potentially reset their stay duration. Comments clarify that generally, a foreigner can stay in Thailand for up to 157 days per year under visa exemptions, incorporating 30 days of extension and one 7-day extension. It's advised to have a ticket out of Thailand and sufficient funds upon re-entry to lessen the chances of denial.

Anonym deltaker 183 okay, but so if I come back January 2, after 2 weeks vacation in the Philippines. I think I’m eligible to stay here 60 days + get 1 moth extension right?
i just got my first extension in Patong ..was told to just come back for 2 months after i leave the country, then buy a real Visa if u want to stay longer.
A new year will make absolutely zero difference. I would say you will be allowed to enter providing you have no other history but will only be allowed a 7 day extension at most. Best to have a ticket out of Thailand, 20k baht in cash and accommodation booked. If you do have history in Thailand all bets are off
157 days ( 2 x visa-exempt entries) per calendar year, unless you can convince the IO that you are a genuine tourist. If you want to spend longer in Thailand, then obtain a visa. An METV will give you nearly 9 months if you time your exit correctly.
The new rule is that you can stay in Thailand for 157 days per year with the normal visa exempt stamp. You are allowed 1 extension of 30 days on the first visit and then you can get 1 extension of 7 days on your second visit.
Anonymous participant 778 becareful with the terminology. Is not a rule I have not seen any Thai immigration say that (Its 157 days) because this guideline is only associated with visa exempt × 2 with a extension and border bounce
