Hi all,

I’ve just retired from work in the UK and I’m after some advice regarding retiring and living permanently in Thailand.

I have recently obtained my multi exit O-A visa in the UK permitting me to stay for 1 year and plan to fly both my dog and myself to Thailand at the end of July.

Could someone please explain the full procedures I have to follow to maintain my residency in Thailand.

i.e. The 90 day reporting etc and how I go about extending my stay year on year.

Thanking you in advance

Keith.

Welcome to Thailand. Be aware you need some special procedures to take the dog to Thailand. But back to your question. Your Visa is a multiple entry visa and on every entry you will get 1 year of stay stamped in your passport, please directly check if this is correct, mistakes are human. If you stay at a private address your landlord or you should report your stay within 24 hours after arrival. 90 days after your arrival, day of arrival is day nr 1 and than count 90 days forward you should report that you're 90 days inside the country. You can make this report 15 days before till 7 days late of day nr 90. If you leave and enter Thailand just before or on the enter before date on the visa you still get another year of stay. Your visa will be expired than but during this second year you apply for a re-entry permit at Immigration to travel abroad and on return you will get the same last day to stay.

Thanks Robert, so I take it that I have to transfer the required funds into a Thai bank account 2 months prior to applying for my Extension of stay towards the end of year two (as long as I’ve been out and back into Thailand to get the 2nd year)

You can not renew the visa, when it is used it stay as a nice memory in your passport. As said you can get two years of stay out of this visa. Before these two years runs out, you apply for an Extension of Stay at the nearest Immigration Office for another year. And so on and on.

Thanks Robert.

I am using PetAir Uk gold service to transport my dog who do all the paperwork, import and export permits etc and my dog has his passport with his rabies injections etc.

So on my first day I have to report to immigration in Lopburi and give them my address in Lopburi and then report every 90 days after that.

What is the most efficient/cost effective way to leave and re-enter Thailand to renew my visa when it’s getting close to expiring. By land or air and which is the best way of doing this?

Thanks again Keith
