Good day friends

4 questions

When I come to Thailand on a OA or O based on retirement, should I report within 24 hours where I live? I ask as I might first stay with someone while I am looking for a place of my own. I also ask this as I will have to open a bank account and show proof where I live

If I have a multiple retirement visa....and I have found a place to stay ...opened my bank account and have everything in place,...can I go back home for 3 months to sell my property and return to Thailand? How will this work?

If I have a retirement visa can this be changed to a married EOS on the second year?

Will Thailand except monthly income when applying for a retirement visa within Thailand or only if you come into Thailand with a OA visa?

If you relocate to another place to stay do you just have to report it to immigration?

Sorry for all the questions

Regards Jannie.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the requirements for reporting their residence upon arrival in Thailand on an OA or O retirement visa, including address changes and the need for proof of residence to open a bank account. They also ask if it's permissible to leave Thailand for three months after securing a residence. The user seeks clarity on whether they can switch from a retirement visa to a married Extension of Stay (EOS) in the second year and if monthly income can be used for retirement visa applications within Thailand, or only when entering on an OA visa. Responses affirm that foreigners must register their address within 24 hours, and any address changes require new reporting to immigration. Furthermore, it is noted that the type of visa cannot be changed once issued.

When in Thailand you can apply for an Extension of Stay based on being over 50 years of age, the Immigration office allows an income affidavit from your Embassy or if they don't provide that service, you can use a monthly income on a Thai bank

@Robert ******
so at the end of the first year you can not extend your retirement visa....now based on being married?

The first Extension of Stay must be the same reason as the visa is issued for.

After that you might change the reason for a new Extension of Stay but that depends also on the Visa used as start.

thanks. Think better to stick to one thing. I was asking that due to the money that must be kept in a bank if you go that way....but thank you.

You can not change the reason used to apply for a visa. If you have a visa based on being over 50 years of age it will stay the same.

a Foreigner needs to be registered at the local Immigration Office within 24 hours after arrival.

What kind of visa you use is not relevant, every foreigner needs to have an address while residing in Thailand.

If you change address, a new report must be done.
