What are the potential issues at Thai airport immigration for a Hungarian national entering without a visa but having a ticket for longer than 30 days?

Hi, I have another question and thank you for your patience, effort and expertise. Is there any potential issue with the airport immigration if my mother's airplane ticket refers to staying in Thailand for more than one month but she enters Thailand with Hungarian passport without visa and she has the right to stay for one moth? Do we risk anything? I would not like to risk as she is an older woman and I would not like to expose her to some potential inconveniences.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Concerns regarding potential immigration issues at Thai airport for a Hungarian woman entering without a visa but holding a ticket suggesting a stay longer than the allowed 30 days were addressed. It appears that the primary risk may arise during airline check-in rather than immigration entry, particularly if a return or onward travel ticket isn't available. Additionally, there could be the potential for a 30-day extension at an immigration office.

I think you're not going to have ANY issues with your mother stamping in on a 30 day visa exempt entry (assuming they are allowed to board their flight here) AND they shouldn't have any problem getting a 30 day extension on their visa exempt entry at the immigration office either.

Same situation, was asked at boarding why I didn’t have a return flight within the duration of my permited stay, but was allowed to board anyway.

usually SETV fee is cheaper than extension in Thailand (1900THB). Not sure in her case thought.

Because she can stay one month without it and we can extend it for one month more for 1900 bath

Maybe more trouble with airline upon check-in rather than at passport control upon entry to Thailand if she doesn't have return or onward travel ticket within that period.

@Milos ****
why not just avoid the hassle and get a proper visa

Milos Zec Lufthansa from Toulouse to BKK in September 2018 DID ask. Malaysian Airlines from Dehli to BKK in October did NOT ask… Safest is to buy an onward ticket..

Milos Zec Get a single entry tourist visa or a cheap flight out of Thailand within 30 days. That should solve any potential hassle at both ends.

Milos Zec Airlines certainly DO care about that as the passenger is their responability if they're refused entry. Most airlines wont allow the passenger to fly without the correct travel documentation

I commented because there are many reports which says airline require customer to have return (or onward travel) ticket within 30days for visa exempt entry (without visa) or would not let you board. Some reports say being refused boarding because of lack of right ticket. I also have several experience of being asked by airline upon check-in.

But it might be not for all airlines, so maybe she would get luck.

Not sure about it. Mz general experience is that the airlines companies don't care about that much

I meant she might have more trouble with airline upon check-in without any visa and with return ticket which is dated longer than visa exempt entry (30days).

Nope, the return ticket to go back in 6 weeks but entering without visa because she is eligible to stay for one month without it
