Hey guys

I am new to all the documents and all that. I was lucky enough to get a teaching job before I came over to Thailand. My boyfriend is planning to come over and get a teaching job as well. How do we go about the 30 days and re entry things while we look for a job for him?

Seems like a silly question, just want to make sure everything is in place and we know what to do.

Thank you in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
The poster is new to the immigration process in Thailand and seeks advice on how their boyfriend can manage his visa situation while job hunting for a teaching position. Responses indicate that he can enter Thailand with a 30-day Visa Exempt Entry, which can be extended for another 30 days, or alternatively apply for a Single Entry Tourist Visa with an initial stay of 60 days. Another suggestion was to consider a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa, which permits several 60-day stays, but it can only be obtained prior to arrival, not while in Thailand.

You can not buy the multiple entry tourist visa in Thailand or neighbor countries. You can only buy this in your country of residence or as alternative Australia.

Should we buy him a multiple entry tourist visa when we get here? Would that be better?

Tom Wanzer, why not advice to take a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa before you make your way to Thailand, gives you almost 9 months of stay in sections of 60 days and is better than all the travel days and tourist information you provide.

If your boyfriend is entitled for the 30 day Visa Exempt Entry he get that when he enter Thailand at the Immigration Checkpoint, he can extend that at a local Immigration Office with another 30 days. Other option is to apply for a Single Entry Tourist Visa before he makes his way into Thailand and get 60 days of stay with possible Extension for another 30 days.
