TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks recommendations for agents who can assist with obtaining a marriage visa extension in Thailand without meeting the ฿400,000 bank requirement. Several comments provide advice on the financial challenges, including the high costs of using agents and the potential long-term debt due to interest rates on loans to 'season' funds. Suggestions include returning to their home country to apply for a NON-O visa, which may allow them to open a Thai bank account, season their funds, and then apply for an extension.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
  • Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.
  • For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
  • Explore recent discussions by using the Non-O Retirement Visa tag in the search box at the top of the page.

Go back to your own country apply for a NonO

Visa based on marriage, come back here and you should be able to get a bank account, put your money in the thai account let it season for 2 month then go to your local immigration and apply for 1 year extention.

For the first extension you need 400k seasoned in your thai bank acct for 2mths before u apply and for the subsequent extensions u can use the 40k/mth method.....u need to decide which is more important losing out on the 8-9% interest on the first year or paying 60k to a agent every year

If you don't have 400,000 or even 60,000 you should consider going home to make some money.

well, the income requirement for a marriage extension is a minimum of 40,000 THB, not 60,000. However for this he needs the income affidavit of his embassy (only if his embassy issues it) , or a bank statement of 12 consecutive months of money transfers coming in onto his Thai bank account from abroad

the OP said that the agent wanted 60,000

the police order states 40,000 income is required . . . the OP obviously wants to get the 1-year extension without own money, and the agent asks for 60,000 THB service fee (to bribe the Immigration)

yep. Using an agent instead of using your own funds is a really bad idea.

If you don’t have the ฿400k for the bank acct the agents will give you an eye popping interest rate to season the money…then if you still don’t have it at your extension time you’re in for another eye popping interest rate from the agent to season the money again…basically you will be in debt forever

.I have 400.000 but exchange rate very bad from my bank transfer and one thing more in Thailand interest rate very low..I can earn 8 to 9% interest rate on my home country bank..

Some embassies issue an income document. It gets accepted instead of the 400k. I did it twice (from the Netherlands) since I dont have a bank account yet. But can also be a pain process. Needs to be legalized etc. And immigration doesnt like it. They will still try to make some money by saying they know agents for a bank account.

you are aware that the type O visa extension based on Thai wife does not require you to leave the bt400,000 in your Thai bank account after you get your one year extension right? After you get your first one year extension your bt400,000 only has to be in your Thai account for about 2
***
months total each year. During that time you'll lose about $200 in interest for those 2
***
months, much much cheaper than using an agent. Just something to understand.
