π¨ DTV Visa Holders Something Important About the 180 Days That Many People Donβt Realize
Iβve seen many DTV holders confused about what happens when their first 180 days in Thailand are ending, so I just want to share this here because it may help someone avoid stress later.
Basically, you have 2 main options:

π OPTION 1:
Apply for a 180-Day Extension Inside Thailand

You can apply at a local immigration office inside Thailand.
But from what Iβve seen, requirements can vary depending on:
β’ The immigration office
β’ The officer reviewing your case
β’ Your situation/documentation
Some offices may ask for documents similar to your original DTV application again, such as:
β’ Financial proof
β’ Accommodation proof
β’ Purpose of stay
β’ Work/source of income evidence
And one important thing many people miss:
β οΈ You can only extend ONCE per entry.
So after using your extension, you need to leave Thailand before getting another 180-day stay again.

π OPTION 2:
Leave Thailand & Re-Enter
βββββββββββββββ
This is what many DTV holders choose to do.
You simply:
βοΈ Exit Thailand
βοΈ Re-enter using your DTV
Then immigration normally grants a fresh 180-day stay again.
A lot of people prefer this option because it avoids uncertainty with extension requirements inside Thailand.

π Re-Entry Checklist (Very Recommended)
βββββββββββββββ
Even if immigration doesnβt ask every time, I highly recommend keeping these ready:
β
DTV approval letter
β
TDAC completed before arrival
β
20,000 THB cash
β
Outbound flight ticket
β
Accommodation proof
β
Source of income/work evidence
Because honestly⦠immigration checks can feel different depending on:
β’ Airport/border
β’ Officer
β’ Travel history
β’ Timing

π VERY IMPORTANT
βββββββββββββββ
Before leaving the immigration counter, always double-check:
βοΈ Visa type says βDTVβ
βοΈ You received 180 days
If thereβs a mistake, ask them to fix it immediately.
Iβve seen situations where people noticed later and had to return to the SAME airport or border checkpoint to correct it.
Just sharing this because DTV is a really flexible visa, but understanding the small details can save you a lot of stress later. πΉπ
Hope this helps someone ππ»
