When you have to leave after 360 days to extend/renew your DTV/ do you again have to show the Thai government that you still have the 14k in your account? I’m coming on a DTV Muay Thai visa but I am assuming it’s the same for all DTV visas? I’ve also heard it’s the discretion of the agent that you encounter and it’s never uniform so what are people’s experiences so far?
Answer summary
The conversation addresses the requirements for extending or renewing a DTV visa in Thailand, including the need to show financial evidence (such as maintaining a certain amount in a bank account) upon re-entry after the initial stay. While some users have noted that they have not been asked to provide such documentation during their re-entries, opinions vary, with experiences suggesting that requirements can differ based on the immigration officer encountered. The typical procedure involves originally staying for 180 days, applying for a 180-day extension, and then needing to leave Thailand to re-enter for another stay.

It is compulsory to show funds if you extend via an immigration office or if asked upon arrival which is extremely rare. I recently made my 11th re-entry with nothing asked.

I think you leave after 180 days not 360. But please check.

Option 2: Extend In Thailand

* Before your initial 180 days expires, apply at Thai Immigration for a one-time 180-day extension (current fee commonly cited as 1,900 THB).

* This allows a total stay of up to 360 consecutive days (180 + 180).

* After the extension period ends, you must leave Thailand and then re-enter to receive a new 180-day stay.

Naomi McKenzie I have only heard of 2 successful extensions of a DTV so be prepared to border bounce on or before day 180

I leave Thailand and return with another 180-day stamp and so far have not experienced any questions or requests at the immigrations (Suvarnabhumi Airport).
