TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion focuses on the recent price increases for the Thailand Elite Visa program, which have raised concerns among potential expats and retirees. The new costs are outlined as follows: 5 years for 900,000 baht, 10 years for 1.5 million baht, 15 years for 2.5 million baht, and 20 years for 5 million baht. Community members express frustration regarding affordability and speculate on the implications of these increases for future visa options, including the possibility of future hikes for the retirement visa deposit.

obviously it’s time to think about LTR which is far more superior. With the elite/privilege you get stamped in for 1 year and need to do 90 day reporting. With LTR it’s a 5 year stamp and only 1 year reporting. And it cost me only 65.000 baht.

And you cannot just buy a 20yr visa under the new scheme.

Only 100 per year available and it's by invitation only.

warming? prices are going to increase 5 ×. Warning it's going to cost 80k more for the same thing

@Greg ********
Normally they say nothing till day before
Graham *******
I suspect the only thing they will achieve by messing around with the price is to destroy what little trust people had in that system anyway!

Thailand is going upscale! We can expect the retirement visa deposit to be reviewed too I guess...
Michel *************
Shambles? Prices are sky rocketing in South Thailand (rich foreign tourists) and Bangkok is strong. Even Pattaya is going up... Nothing is going down.
Michel *************
I own and sometimes rent multiple properties in the luxury segment... So yes what is good for Thailand is good for me!
Craig ********
OO Edward yeah i hope not. 800k is plenty. More than enough.
Michel *************
OO Edward The cost and style of new condos are confirming the trend. We need people with purchasing power

@Michel ************
yes 100%. Going to go from 800k to 1.5 million at least, if not more.
Jake *****
The Thai government said that we will welcome rich retirees only 😅😅
Bruce *********
@Jake ****
You don't have to be rich to afford those prices. It's pretty reasonable.

Reserve 20 years - 5,000,000 baht. 120 points per year

Diamond 15 years - 2,500,000 baht. 55 points per year

Platinum 10 years - 1,500,000 baht. 35 points per year

Gold 5 years - 900,000 baht. 20 points per year
Jesse *****
@Stuart ********
so buying 2x10 years works out best then. 20 years an extra 2 million seems strange
Stuart *********
@Jesse ****
I’m sure in 10 years time the price will have risen again.

@Jay ******
For sure.

no idea how they worked out the pricing. Normally the more you buy the cheaper it gets. The points are surely meant to be a bonus

5 years = 180,000 per annum

10 years = 150,000 per annum

15 years = 166,666 per annum

20 years = 250,000 per annum

Can't see the points being worth that difference

Francesco Marescotti until the last moment of your life, unless you lost qualified

Or one year with an OA Non Immigrant visa
Stuart *********
Francesco Marescotti it’s the privileges you can use throughout the year. Each has a value. Limousine service, golf, massage. I don’t have list of what’s what but perhaps someone does.
Stuart *********
Francesco Marescotti all extensions of stay regardless how long are 1,900 baht.
