I’m trying to get my head around all of the different types of visas available and which one would best suit me? In all of the discussions, on this forum, I haven’t read anything about the Thai Elite Visa.

Qualification appears quite simple?

Or, am I missing something?

What are the qualifications for Thailand Elite Membership?

The applicants must meet and maintain the following qualifications:

Holder of a foreign passport

Being allowed to stay in Thailand in accordance with the immigration laws, which means the applicant has no overstay record in Thailand

No age limit is required for this program.

Not having been sentenced by a judgment to imprisonment in any country except for an offense committed to negligence

Not having been adjudicated bankrupt

Not having been declared as a person of unsound mind, incompetence, or quasi-incompetence

Any positive feedback would be welcomed. 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
The Thailand Elite Visa allows foreigners to stay in Thailand with relatively simple qualifications, including holding a foreign passport, having no overstay records, and not having criminal or bankruptcy issues. While the qualifications are straightforward, the cost can be significant, ranging from 650,000 to 990,000 THB for a five-year multiple entry visa. Many expats find it convenient as it automatically renews upon re-entry, although some suggest considering other visas if one doesn’t meet certain financial criteria.

The DTV costs 10k for a five year multiple entry visa.

The TPE costs 650-990k for a five year multiple entry visa. Do the math…

DTV is not intended for people to reside in Thailand. The future of the DTV is in jeopardy past its initial 5 years. The elite visa has been around for over 20 years

DTV would not be an option for me, then.

Back to the drawing board. 🤦‍♂️

The only critical ‘qualification’ for Thai Privilege is having the cash to pay for it. It’s an excellent visa though.

You need to qualify for LTR. You need to pay for Thai Elite.

If you have the means, but not the annual income required for the LTR, the Elite visa works well. Still have to do the 90 day report, but do not have to worry about bank accounts, bank balances. And if you like to travel, every time you re-enter it automatically renews for a year at no cost. Most expats do not wish to or cannot spend the upfront money.

TE visa is basically for people who want to throw money at staying in Thailand, rather than doing the work of qualifying for another type of visa. DTV is much better right now if you're not yet 50.

then why would you spend tens of thousands of dollars to buy a visa when you already qualify for a regular one?
