I went in a visa agent today to enquire about visa options.

I was told the only option available was a retirement visa.

Although I have the 800000 in the bank they said it would be a 60000 BAHT charge.

When I enquired about DTV the woman told me it's not possible Vietnam are not issuing any.

I also asked about ed visa also just a not possible.

What are people's thoughts on this.

60000 seems quite a lot.
Summary so far
The inquiry revolves around the availability and costs associated with obtaining a retirement visa in Thailand. The poster visited a visa agent who suggested that the only option available was a retirement visa, and they quoted a fee of 60,000 Baht despite the poster mentioning they have 800,000 Baht in the bank. The community responses suggest that this fee is exorbitant and unnecessary if the funds are established in a Thai bank account. Many commenters advise doing the application independently, emphasizing that the actual government fee for the retirement visa is around 1,900 Baht if the necessary funds are in the correct bank account. Discussions also touch on difficulties of applying for certain visas like the DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) and ED (Education) Visa, which seem to be misrepresented by the agent.

You might want to consider the LTR visa. Has tax advantages on any retirement income you bring to Thailand. Multiple entries and a yearly report rather than 90 days. Good for 5 years renewable for another 5. You can get them with a work permit. You don't need an agent. I don't work so I didn't pursue that option. I was on an A-O and got the LTR on my own 3 yrs ago with no problems. Was easier than the A-O

Only downside is you have to get it in Bangkok but you can fly into BKK and take public transportation directly to the building.
